History
Once he got his first taste of freedom, Rook strove to explore further and further away from his clan's territory. Strong and calloused from his strict upbringing as a child, he continued on his journey. What was he searching for? Even Rook, himself, didn't know. It wasn't until he stumbled across a neighboring clan in the middle of constructing their lair, did Rook realize what he wanted to do. That looked fun. Something actually looked fun for once. Rook never knew what fun was until he built his first thingamajig. It really didn't have a purpose, it just existed, and Rook made it. He made something! He wanted to make more! So the dragon became a carpenter. His own clan soon found themselves commissioning him more and more to spruce up the lair. While it was a grueling task and a major inconvenience, Rook loved it. The rest of the guild? They didn't. It took Rook a great amount of willpower to move into the cave along with the rest of the guild. He bid his old home a sad farewell. Lair Builder Rook is first and foremost, a carpenter. At first he was very excited at the prospect of the guild seeking a new lair. However, his excitement took a plummet when the new territory was chosen. The lair just had to be a cave. It just had to be a perfect cave. There were no leaky ceilings to be boarded up, no bridges to be built; it was absolutely flawless. There was literally nothing for him to do besides build a shelve for all his tools. The tools that he never got to use. How humiliating... The Next Assignment One particularly bustling morning, Rook was assigned a new job. The lair was practically overflowing with dragons. There was no more space to house new guild members and visitors, much to the guildmasters' chagrin. Perfect. Rook was ecstatic. They were going to commission him to build a second lair! He was finally going to get to do something! The drake's feathers bristled at the mere sight of the pickaxe presented before him. What is this? They wanted him to carve out tunnels to expand the lair...? Heavens, no! Rook is a carpenter not a miner. Yet, no one else was available for the job. So, the poor coatl slunk into the mines, brandishing his pickaxe, and began to dig. |
