She flies higher and further than anyone else in her clan, and if all her teasing weren't so adorable, the whole clan might've turfed her out months ago. She's just repaying in happiness all the sleepless nights and worry that she costed them.

Whatever she saw on her trip from Lightning to Arcane, it wasn't pretty. Mute, starved and covered in scratch-marks, she was found on the clan's border by Valsyn and Bhale and carried home. Mnemosyne had disappeared again; no-one else in the clan was even approaching competence with healing spells: it fell to Valsyn, the sorceress's apprentice, to pour over her books and come up with a better plan than 'wrap the holes up and hope they go away'. Nothing had prepared him for so many injuries, so much blood. There were times when he thought she'd never fly again. But Mnemosyne was nothing if not a talented curator, and with every book his knowledge grew. Day by day, week by week, he pieced together shattered bones and regenerated segments of missing muscle. Bit by bit, piece by piece, he put the broken body back together. The rest, she could do on her own.

And regrow she did. As summer turned green buds into flowers, Perry was able to take her first steps into the sunshine. Days later, she was flying-- short bursts, gliding more than anything, but flying. With wind under her wings and sun on her back, that was the first time Valsyn saw her smile. Her voice came back with the flying: halting and creaky at first, but growing with use and confidence into a high, slightly raspy flutter of sound that they've been unable to quiet ever since. Her energy is infectious, as if she's making up for lost time: there's no errand too trivial for her to run, no job she won't take. The little hedgehog Mnemosyne caught for her is never far behind: in sickness and in health, the little Speedy tucks himself into her wraps or her scarf and comes along for the ride. And if, sometimes, she takes her time returning from her errands or flying excursions, there are few in the clan who'll judge or worry. She's not begrudged her privacy, should she want it.
