Biography

Iraia

Assertive || Impulsive || Confident

Crystal-divider-wide.png

Iraia was raised by her mother who worked as a scavenger in the pines of the Shadow Flight. She never knew her father and her mother never spoke of him either. She along with her brother were raised to be independent and the young guardian left to fend for herself early in life. It was during this time that she met a tundra named Mercury. The pair traveled together as friends for a while, not having a set goal in mind. They often stayed in other clans temporarily on their wanderings.

When a dragon named Sugar Meadow showed up on a quest to find an Emperor dragon to regain a deity's favor, Iraia jumped at the chance to help. She'd heard stories of the nightmarish creatures but was more focused on how cool finding one would be rather than the danger. The trio ended up outside the Order of Bone where they found a new Emperor that they'd at least momentarily restrained and put back to sleep. Sugar Meadow gained their permission to set up a guard camp and placed Iraia in charge of any fighting while Mercury took more of a liking to the role of healing any injuries.
______

The situation was dangerous and more dragons joined them. However, Iraia was always confident in their abilities to keep the Emperor asleep and knowledge of its existence to a minimum. It wasn't too long before her and Mercury had their first nest of hatchlings. While they had five eggs, only four hatched, though she was quite certain it meant they were strong. Her first daughter, Alenia was blind, though she managed well enough on her own while her other daughter Celia was rather passive; her two sons took the spotlight more often with Thanis becoming a strong fighter and Zaer followed in his father's footsteps as a healer. Iraia loved them all equally despite their differences but also kept her distance from them, preferring for them to learn without her interference.

Iraia eventually went on to convince her mate to have a second nest after watching her first hatchling grow up. She wanted to provide the growing group with more warriors to defend the area and was delighted when she gained two more sons. However, shortly after she began to feel the instinctual pull to go on her Search. Iraia tried to ignore it- the group had hit a rough patch and needed every dragon- but ultimately she had to leave. Her two sons were still hatchlings and she hoped for their sake she wouldn't be remembered. The guardian knew her older sons, Thanis specifically, would probably resent her but this wasn't something she could control. In the dead of night, she left them all behind.
______

The Water Flight was the closest place to start her search outside of her home flight in Shadow. She didn't look back as she began the long process of looking for her charge. The tug was slowly leading her in the direction of where she'd find it but at times she felt lost. It was almost as if her charge was on the move. Iraia was growing frustrated until she ran into a spiral who seemed rather nervous and tired. She hadn't meant to get involved but the guardian offered to help her after hearing Sutera's story. The princess had fled her home after a rebellion had kicked her family from power.

It wasn't until a few days of traveling with the young spiral that Iraia realized her urge to search for her charge was gone. The guardian had found her charge in the younger dragon and her vow to protect the spiral took on a whole new level. She'd defend her charge with her life, even if Sutera had originally only expected Iraia to stay for a short time- not that she minded now having a traveling companion. The pair became close in their travels and Iraia began to see the spiral as her daughter as well as her charge. The two continue to travel Sornieth to explore and have fun- seeing as Sutera could no longer go home. Iraia found their adventures exhilarating, though every so often she'll wonder what became of her old family.
