Elfryn is a young guardian who came to the temple one day. Despite being a young guardian, old enough to have gotten his Call, Elfryn asked if he could stay at the temple and that he had nowhere else to go. Humorous but calm, him and the hot-headed Solvaring made a nice friendship. Harbors a quiet sadness.
He acts as a part-time fisher as he occasionally goes out with Livadi, but mainly helps with the gardens, as he finds both activities soothing.

Solvaring had always wondered why, if his charge wasn't here, then why wasn't he out looking? One day he told her, of how his day had come. The day the directionless pull he had always felt would have a direction. He had followed it, but it had felt strange, hollow. It didn't feel full of warmth and energy that he had always been told it would be. He found a grave and knew.

He didn't have a charge, so why go home? He had wandered after that, aimlessly. He wondered if he should be sadder. He felt hollow. Numb. But hadn't he always kind of felt that way? Maybe he could have known earlier. If he had realized his bond felt different than described. Off. Either way he didn't have a purpose, but he couldn't lose what he'd never had, so he didn't really want to die either. He came across the temple one day and thought "maybe I can find out why."

He met Livadi, when he was invited to join Solvaring and her father for dinner one evening. It was strange. He kept catching the older dragon watching him. Livadi had been mostly quiet but then asked if Elfryn would like to join him some time for fishing. As they went on trips and hikes around, one day Livadi explained what happened to his mate. And suddenly, the understanding looks made more sense. The talk that followed left him in tears. Sad and happy. He wondered which was worse, the agony of loss, or the emptiness of never knowing.
