We unearthed a terrible thing. When we'd broken through to see caves and caves full of status, beautiful and strange. They held their clawed fore feet over one set of their eyes, the other head with eyes to the ground. What culture created them? Why were they buried?

When we looked away, we heard the fluttering of wings, only to look back and see they seemed closer, and their uncovered head was staring directly at us, a menacing baring of teeth. If I look away I know I will not survive, but my eyes are getting dry, and I'll have to blink soon. I put this haphazardly to paper, as I cannot risk looking down at it. If this is found, I am so sorry, so sorry for letting them back out into our world.
