Biography
Hibou is a pretty good seer, and has concentrated all her focus towards perceiving the upcoming and thus left other aspects of magic unstudied. In a pinch she results to clobbering things, much to the amusement of her friends. Most of her opponents aren’t expecting it either, assuming someone dressed as a sage to wield magic. Many whom she beats keep insisting she cheats by foreseeing their moves, but she’s just good.
Hibou reads cards and paws and tea leaves and whatnot for a certain price, which is what she makes most of her income on, but she also reads signs of the environment such as clouds, weather, shadows, accidents, flowers, and natural mutations of the local “fauna” and “flora”. She keeps a journal of signs, omens, and predictions and meticulously writes down how and what she interprets to come to the conclusion she does, and a pair for each one where she writes what really happened. She doesn’t show these to anyone, because knowing what goes behind the scenes of wondrous things “ruins the magic”. She has quite shelf of these “secret diaries” as she calls them, and anyone reading and properly cross-referencing them would find a difficult process of study and oodles of predictions that get more and more accurate as time processes.
Anyone reading them would also discover that surprisingly little of why she does is actual magic. Knowing the psyche of others goes a long way, and so does a few classes of ‘mundane weather prediction for beginners’ taken at the Reedcleft Ascent.
