The ramshackle town of Cinderslag houses the dragons of Emberlight Refuge. The lair is partially carved into the steep cliffs that surround its dwellings. Towering spires of basalt rise around the pathway, and veins of magma tear across its rocky terrain; its entrance is not particularly friendly. If one were desperate enough to venture in, however, they would be greeted with hospitality. Emberlight Refuge welcomes the sick, the weary, the injured. It personifies the warmth of a domesticated fire; should you treat it with respect, it will offer you comfort. The lifeblood of the refuge, in fact, lies in its central hearth. The unquenchable Flame housed within spills light onto the shadowed pathways...almost in invitation. The fire is not just a beacon; it is a symbol of home and sanctuary. | x |

The refuge itself is relatively new, mere centuries old, but it is built atop primeval Banescale tunnels. The first Flamekeeper found her home within the underground caves, and as the lair grew, it spilled above ground and into the Cinderslag. The tunnels are etched with the carvings of past inhabitants. Although few agree on what exactly the art conveys, none would argue against its historic and cultural value. One legend born from the murals speaks of an ancient relic buried somewhere in the labyrinthine complex. Though rooted in the flames of Ashfall Waste, Emberlight Refuge is touched by storms of lightning. Just past the mountains is the Highland Scrub, and the underground passages connect the refuge to a sub-lair in Emberglow Hearth that borders the Shifting Expanse. There lies Voltaic Roost, a haven that offers protection to travelling Sparks. The legendary Emberlight relic has attracted more and more Lightning dragons to its lodgings over the years, but it continues to elude even the most talented treasure hunters. Beyond the cliffs is a small harbor that reaches into Shoredeep Passage. The scalding waters where Ashfall Waste meets the Sea of a Thousand Currents are home to the clan's Undertides and Water dragons. Unlike Voltaic Roost, Igneous Harbor—named for the igneous flow that decorates its borders—is no meeting of cultures. Instead, it allows Emberlight Refuge to receive essential imports from other flights, including fire flowers from the Mire, fishing nets from Redrock Cove, and Sornieth's finest woods. | x |
