Hatchlings: Dragon Log Born to the first “mated pair” created by Beltane’s unfortunate magical talent for encouraging amorous unions, this Guardian and his siblings seemed to have the fates against them from birth, but it appears that luck is with them after all. Despite the way in which they came together, both this Guardian’s parents are happy to have three sons, and are not neglecting their offspring in any way. Perhaps they will be able to help him find his particular interest as he grows older, or perhaps not. At the moment, unlike his siblings, he does not seem to have any obvious preference to anything, and is, instead, getting into everything magical indiscriminately… 2-14-19: During his first day after birth, this Guardian slipped away from the Nursery for a little while, and went exploring. Somehow, he ended up all the way across the Main Cave, and found his way to the Magical Phenomena tunnel, and the more…volatile…area of the caves. After nearly getting his tail singed from an explosion in the Experimental Magics Cave, he fled into the Manipulated Magics Cave, where he ran straight into a—fortunately apparently relatively harmless—ball of arcane energy. Frightened and disoriented, the poor hatchling staggered down a short ramp into the Potions Cave…and found himself almost nose to nose with a strange, ugly little pile of goo…By the time Imbolc tracked the young dragon down, and herded him back to his worried parents, the little Guardian had calmed, and initiated a familiar bond with his hew friend. Neither of his parents—or the Clan—know what to do about this development, but at least the Tar-Trooper Slarg is a lot gentler than many he could have bonded with. And perhaps with “Mucky” to look after he won’t be as inclined to go exploring, and somehow get himself through supposedly spell-sealed doors… 5-14-19: "Mucky" has Awakened! This monumental occasion has been greeted by the Tar-Trooper Slarg with very little fanfare, however, as he seems far more interested in poking his nose into the closest experiments being carried out in the cave where he and his Guardian friend has settled. It’s a good thing that the Guardian in question has figured out how to control his ability to dampen magic to the point that he can now call that Gift up at need... 8-9-20: This young dragon got a bit of a surprise today: He was exploring near the caves, trying to find a new pocket of unusual magical energy that he had detected far too close to the Clan, when he heard an strange cawing sound. Looking up, the Guardian found himself facing one of the Clan’s more independent familiars: the unbonded Rosy Lake Cormorant. For some reason, the odd bird seems to really like the young Guardian--so much so that “Shiny” followed him back into the caves… 11-3-20: Shiny has Awakened! The Guardian is very happy for his friend--especially since the incessant cawing has now stopped. Even better, Shiny seems to have finally understood that taking all the Clan's fish for himself is not a good idea. With the bird finally settled and mature, perhaps this Guardian can go back to exploring odd magical surges... |
