Amura was one of a handful of dragons who died at the same precise moment as a surge from the Bounty of the Elements occurred. Buffeted by magic even as she was bleeding out on the ground, she found herself overwhelmed by the pure energy and transformed by it. Not quite alive and not quite dead, she found herself trapped in a blurry half-life that left her on the edge of incorporeal. The water whose edges her party of Seekers once patrolled around became her lifeline. Her very element was transformed, and she could not return to the life she once knew.
She drifted in the Sea of a Thousand Currents for some time, trying to find some way to return safely to the land. She would take brief, hazardous trips ashore to beg aid from seaside clans, but they were either unwilling or unable to respond to her plight. Eventually, these desperate attempts lead her to Thunder Hollow, where there was certainly no lack of willingness to assist. They told her to wait while they pinned down a mage capable of binding her blurry form to a physical object and allow her to walk on land once again.
Though it took several months for a mage to be located, and a few months more for that mage to master the magic of runes required to operate in Thunder Hollow's ley-darkness, the land-dwellers kept their promise and Amura's faculties were restored. As long as she did not stray too far from her Anchorstone, she could behave almost like a normal dragon.
Over the years, Amura's essence has been bound to several different Anchorstones in a sort of chain that links various parts of the clan. If she retreats into herself, she may appear at any of these points and keep watch.
