Opportunity
Though my soul may set in darkness, it will rise in perfect light;
I have loved the stars too fondly to be fearful of the night.


Expected only to last 90 days, Mars Rover Opportunity explored the surface of
the red planet for 15 years; giving us a view into a beautiful and alien world that
lasted longer than we could have ever expected.



"It's getting dark and my batteries are low."



She sent her last message on the 10th of June, 2018, when a dust storm covered
her solar panels. In the months that followed NASA engineers made hundreds of
attempts to revive her, sending letters to the stars that would never be returned,
before finally conceding defeat on the 13th of February, 2019.
