Licurius

Born with special eyes and later developing eye spots on his wings, Licurius has the innate ability to know when anyone is telling a falsehood. Due to his gift, he easily found work as a leer for hire until he grew tired of the burden. The knowledge of how frequently lies were told and yet not being able to find out the truth unless it was spoken was maddening. As it wasn't something he could turn off, he had a hard time developing relationships or getting close to any other dragons. He was mistrustful of society and when not working, tried to sequester himself from the world.

It was deep in the depths of the sea when a strange lone hydrena found him. Usually all hydrenas were social animals and pack hunters. It had been sniffing about, looking to pick clean any corpses on the ocean floor but Licurius hadn't seen any near him. The hydrena paused when he saw Licurius. Licurius only felt peace when he was connected with nature and animals whose language he couldn't understand as they were usually true of heart. He waited for the hydrena to swim towards him and stayed perfectly still. The hydrena sniffed him cautiously as she circled the Spiral. She sat down and stared at Licurius expectantly but he had nothing to offer. He slowly went to stroke her fur but stopped as her ears became erect. She lowered them forwards and he tried again to pat her head. This time, she let him pat her head. Licurius was delighted at this newfound friend, and as he left the area, she followed him until she caught the scent of something and abruptly changed course.

They both ended up at the entrance of a lair inside a spiral shell.
