The night sky was his creation. Every star painted with a flick of his tail, every cosmo blended by a stroke from his claw. A little to the left, no, that star should go there. Ah, yes, there. Perfect. Beautiful, wasn’t it? His art, his mastery, his duty. The stars, the planets, the watercolor painting every dragon gazed upon when the sun set over the horizon; it was by him, of him. Father of the stars, architect of the cosmos.

But the times were changing. Something dark, something pernicious was snuffing out his stars. Things were not where he put them. It was growing nearer and nearer and no matter how hard and fast he worked, things moved, things changed, things died. The Darkness was destroying his beauty. How long would it be until it swallowed him whole and blackened the skies forever?
