  • A free spirit. Fern loves to run into new places and explore them, she never stayed still in one place too long in her whole life. When she isn't exploring alone she does it with her brother Ichoris and her friend Ivory. Most of the time they're either frolicking in the everbloom gardens or braving the dangers of the outskirts of the scarred wasteland.
  • She hates when people tell her what to do, and hates having burdens or responsibilities. The best thing she does for her clan is being part of one of the best hunting parties of the Secret Garden. Since she's the child and heir of the clan leader, her mentor Severian always demands a lot from her, but it's clear she likes to hunt only for the thrill and doesn't care to follow into her mother's footsteps.
  • Even though she may seem very egocentrical at first, she's just looking for her purpose in life, unable to just step in a role she feels others are imposing on her. She doesn't mind helping others, especially her friends or people she finds interesting. She actually has good leadership skills and is able to keep a level head when facing the hardest difficulties.
