B I O G R A P H Y

The spiral unfurled herself from where she’d curled up for the evening, her bedding strewn out like a nest around her form. She stretched, comfortable and warm in her morning though she had the vaguest inkling of something important she was supposed to do. Passing it as nothing but a whim, she hummed softly and dozed in the warmth of her bedding. Dreams of starcrossed lovers lured her back to sleep, until the prince placed a beautiful ring upon his love’s fingers. The dragon shot up in her spot, remembering what she had forgotten.

Amorette, despite her profound ability to make beautiful jewelry and fall in love with the intricacies of any romance she daydreamed or read, was never good at remembering appointments. She was not good at many things, such as not tripping as she walked. In this case, it was running, and all of her wares had come tumbling free of her satchel as she stumbled out of her home.

“Klutz.” she looked up to catch the sight of Thana as he peered down at her. She felt her cheeks blush, but scrambled to gather her items.

“Sorry- I forgot I had a client to show these to,” she murmured. “I’m running late.” Thana clicked his tongue, a signal he was unimpressed.

“Who would want to buy your gaudy things?” he grunted, stepping past her. “Hopefully whoever you’re selling them to is blind or lacks common sense. Maybe you’ll make something worth the trouble.” Thana had always been a bit cruel to her, despite it being Amorette that had convinced the other spiral to return to her own clan to live there. She’d been his companion in her travels throughout Sornieth, told him stories and listened to those that he would tell her. If he’d tell her. It was strange, though Amorette didn’t question it much, how the spiral could be so loving yet so mean just as quickly. She supposed she was used to it by now, and what parts of him he did show her made her simply smile now.

“If they’re so gaudy then why does everyone in the clan love them so?” she teased. Thana scowled.

“They’re all blind.” he muttered. Amorette let out a soft laugh and a shrug.

“Maybe so. I’ll be back later!” she waved and departed.

“Don’t be too late!” Thana’s voice called after her. Amorette just shook her head and sighed, smile still on her face. He had his ways to make her feel important, though they were few and far between. Any that looked into how they treated each other might not think it very loving, but to Amorette it was quite nice. She adored the other spiral, despite his little quips.

____She’d met Thana in a rather odd predicament, with the other spiral worse for wear after a terrible battle had ensued. Seemingly the only one left alive and on the brink of death, she’d managed to help him to a local clan where he slowly recovered. She learned he had no clan to call his own, and while the one that had helped nurse him back to health had been kind enough to do so, they would not allow him to stay. Amorette decided then that Thana should accompany her back to Clan Snowhearts, her birth clan. Thana obliged.

The two grew close, in a roundabout way, as they traveled back to her clan. Thana was a bit rough, and definitely rude. But he had a way about him that Amorette fell for, whether his own ministrations had been the catalyst and not her own feelings. She couldn’t see the way he manipulated her, blinded by a sudden adoration that spurred into something akin to love. She had even made them matching pendants, which Thana only wore sometimes. Amorette however kept hers around her neck often, and it was where her claw drifted to touch idly while she made her way to her client.

When she finished, it was mid afternoon. She’d slept most of the morning, losing any extra time she might have had before dinner to enjoy a stroll through the market before meeting with her client. Now the market was closed, and since Amorette had spent most of her time that afternoon arguing with said client (she’d purchased the ring to spite her husband into thinking another dragon had given it to her, which Amorette did not approve of) she’d managed to sell at least one of the rings. That was good enough to head back home, where she was surprised to find Thana waiting for her.

“Welcome home.” he murmured. Amorette smiled, claw drifting to her pendant again. “I’m hungry.”

“Oh, you’re impossible.” she sighed, but smiled nonetheless.
