Many nature dragons believe that a hatchling's colors are a symbol of who they will one day become, a gift from the Gladekeeper to guide them down their eventual, proper path. After all, is not her realm the most vibrant and colorful in all of Sornieth, full of bright-plumaged birds and flowers in every shade a dragon could care to name? Even the brightest colors a dragon might bear can be found painted across the feathers of birds or the petals of the abundant flowers there. Every color has a meaning. The humble brown of soil might symbolize a down to earth dragon with an innate ability to make those around them bloom, while a leafy green coat denotes a vibrant personality, bursting with life. And then, there's Seregon.

Seregon's colors are quite extraordinary, soft purples like the finest orchids and irises in a carefully tended garden, complemented by a deep blue, almost black, like the starlit midnight sky. Even his eyes seem to be a particularly vibrant shade of green. Such colors had to have a special meaning. Surely he was meant to ornament his clan, as the flowers he takes his colors from do ornament a patient gardener's home. Seregon, however, has yet to discover exactly how he's going to do that. He thought at first that it was his own beauty that was to be the ornament, and took special pains to choose jewelry and apparel that showed off his elegant, gleaming fur. He practiced posing elegantly, and finding spots where the light shone off him to his advantage. He grew bored of that within a week.

Seregon has too much of a practical streak to settle for being merely ornamental, and too much creativity not to enjoy experimenting with different methods of beautifying the clan he's been adopted into. He experimented with jewelrymaking, to adorn them with gold and silver, but the heat of a smith's forge made him feel as though he was wilting. His attempts at art were enthusiastic, but a little too much so, and he was quietly nudged away from pursuits that got paint on the ceiling. Currently, he's adapted his previous skills at beautifying himself into doing the same for other dragons. His eye for color is unmatched, and they've found that while he can choose the perfect ensemble to bring a dragon's beauty to the fore and make them stand out, he's also quite good at choosing things to make a certain dragon look particularly ordinary and all but fade into the background. It's a useful skill to have in a lair where the dragons there may want to stand out or fade away at one time or another. (And if some of them enjoy a good gossip while they get their claws painted a most fetching color, well, that's their own business.)

Seregon enjoys having something to do, so when he's not helping out other dragons, he spends his downtime “fooling about in the dirt” as he puts it. He doesn't keep a serious garden of the sort a dedicated gardener might have, just a little one that he sees as a place to play around in. It's a mixture of plants he's chosen to survive, and thrive, in the heat of the Ashfall Waste, hardy natives, and windblown seeds that he lets grow as a surprise to himself instead of weeding out. Despite his assertions that it's nothing special, the skill his element imparts helps it bloom. It's a small tropical patch in the sparseness of the fiery land. Some of her windblown surprises have grown into rare plants, gently coaxed by a gardener who can bring out their potential. He also has a special skill for growing the orchids native to the Viridian Labyrinth, tricky plants who require his home region's tropical moisture as well as sufficient heat if they're ever to bloom, that have foiled many a would-be gardener. The rare treasures his garden holds are truly an ornament to the lair.
