The Summer Spirit

Hollis is a very silent dragon; so silent that many think she may not be able to talk at all. But any who know her also know that the little spirit doesn’t need words, instead using pointed looks and gestures to get her point across.
Her perpetual silence mixed with her stoic expression makes Hollis seem very serious and grim at first glance; however, this could not be further from the truth. She is actually a very welcoming, playful dragon who tries to spread warmth and light, both figuratively and literally, wherever she goes.
With how hard she is to read, many dragons avoid her, not wanting to be around someone who you can never really tell what they’re thinking. But the ones who take the time to get to know her can easily see that there’s nothing but love, and sometimes mischief, in her bright, expressive eyes. Eyes that almost seem to glow faintly, especially in the sunshine.

No one actually knows how old Hollis is. She just appeared out of nowhere years ago, wandering out of the woods on one of the hottest days of summer.
Nobody really knew what to make of her or her many peculiarities, like her slightly see-through skin and faintly glowing eyes, or the fact that preferred to make her home in a mossy cave instead of living in a house like the rest of the townsfolk.
It didn’t take long before the dragons of Everbloom Vale realized she was more than just a strange dragon. When they really stopped and thought about, the strange occurrences around Hollis began to slowly add up. The way the sun shone brighter whenever she was around, or the plants seemed to bend towards her like they were nourished by her very presence. The way that, even if you watched her intently, she never seemed to breathe.
It became clear to them that this little creature was no dragon at all, but some sort of wild sprite or nymph taking dragon form.
Whatever she was, their flowers and crops seemed to grow better with her around, so the dragons welcomed her patronage of their town.

One day, the townsfolk began to notice a change in Hollis. She glowed less brightly, sometimes not at all, and she seemed to have lost her interest in tricks and play. They grew worried about her, thinking she was possibly sick or losing her magic. She also began acting strange around the other dragons, constantly following and watching them, almost as if he was studying them. They noticed she would watch one dragon intently, as if looking for something special about them, before disregarding them and moving on to the next.
No one could figure out why she did it, until she started decorating herself with little flowers and pieces of shiny jewelry, and suddenly it dawned on them; there was nothing with Hollis.
She was just lonely, out in the woods by herself. She was looking for a mate.
