A set of sinewy claws wrap around the cracked stone of the crater’s edge. The skin surrounding the yellowed talons bubbles and blisters, pieces sliding off as disease eats away at the vulnerable flesh. A final strained pull and the pale serpentine figure lurches over the top of the rim, chest heaving like great bellows in the putrid air. A long hiss escapes its ruined throat, the noise only barely audible above the broiling of the Wyrmwound below.

It is a wretched thing, skin stretched in a thin membrane across its bones and littered with oozing wounds. A patchwork of hide covers its emaciated form, the colors long since bleached by the harsh sun and caustic air. Crimson eyes gleam in the dim light of dusk, victory clear in their pupiless pits. The Leviathan has risen from the abyss and there is nothing that can make it return.
