Backstory:
➵ The Observatory is the most prestigious school a multigaze dragon can enroll in. Most of them end up taking Nocturne scrolls, as it's common knowledge that nocturnes are a more observant species (though there has never been a peer reviewed study on the matter). Most of them shed their tertiary gene in an act of austerity and symbol of commitment to their studies. They're all white as well, and the reason has always been a closely guarded secret. Some say the dragons started off with a more colourful appearance, but became pale due to arcane rites. Some say it's because they spend all their time studying and never see the sun.

After graduation, dragons are encouraged to take time off to travel. They can hone their skills, help other dragons with their gifts, and decide if they're ready to make their own way or go back to school to further specialize in their craft. They are encouraged to learn from whatever flight they end up in, and many find ways to improve their second-sight even if they never go back to The Observatory.

Cursed Object: ➵ One of the many classes you need for a diploma in second sight is "Cursed Objects 101". In which a dragon takes an ordinary object and spends the term trying to curse it into something useful. Of course a student gets to keep their project when the class is over. Zaleka gave the course her all, and ended up with a cursed object that helps her answer questions. All that's needed is to hold it up to a stable light source, and the shadow will flicker in a pattern that reveals all.
