Northern

You know everyone has their own beliefs for what the stars are for. Some say they’re used for the gods to send messages, others say they’re messages from passed loved ones… some even say they are passed loved ones. Well in a way all these dragons are correct.
There is a dragon who spends his days traveling the night sky. This dragon watches over those below. He listens to their cries, wishes, and breathing.
This dragon’s name is Northern. He is the dragon that travels around the sky decorating it with those glowing dots you call stars. However, he cannot create these stars from nothing. Stars are made of the souls of dragons that have passed, though he usually steals the more joyous and happier souls as they shine more brightly.
Northern does not just decorate the sky with stars, however. Due to the life energy used to create these stars, they have a very powerful energy. Enough to grant wishes, which is exactly what Norther uses them for. Whenever there is a dragon who needs help or has a wish he takes a star and uses it to grant their wish.
However, where did this powerful beast come from? Northern was created in the early stages of the planet. There was no light to help the dragons see, just the flame of their breath.
Soon there was an egg born to two dragons. This hatchling did not have the chance to hatch. He was the first dragon to pass at such a young age. There was no one was there to collect his soul leaving him to wander all alone.
The young hatchling began meeting more lost souls without a place to go. One day while staring into the dark night Northern wished to bring light to the land. So Northern flew into the sky allowing his soul to shine brightest above everyone.
When Northern had released his soul into the sky, the night sky had formed around his body giving him a physical body again. The first star in the sky, the one that shined the brightest… was named after him as the Northern star.
Though this is not the end of Northern’s story, below he would watch misery and lost souls wonder still. So he’d fly to the ground taking their souls to his sky, he would release them allowing them to shine brightly. The souls would leave behind the life essence now being allowed to move forward.
But this left the misery hanging in the air. Along with that Northern’s skies began to get more and more filled. So he began taking this powerful Life energy and turning them into power. With this, he’d have the energy to grant the different dragon’s their wishes!
Now next time you're staring into the sky, remember there is a dragon staring back at you smiling. He is waiting for you to cry out a wish so he may help you.
