Biography
What would you do if you had the weight of the world on you shoulders? Would you suddenly gain composure, with a calm certainty that you will succeed, or would you drive yourself mad with anticipation of failure?
Gryning was raised in the sunbeam ruins, living in an orphanage. He was rudely ripped from this quiet life when an ill prophet declared him "The true hero, one who will vanquish the Shade, ONCE AND FOR ALL!" Such is quite the deceleration to make of a young dragon; Gryning snuck out later that evening, confused and scared. He spent the rest of his time as a hatchling wandering the wilderness, looking for an answer.
By the time Gryning grew up, he had fully convinced himself he was, indeed, the hero of prophecy. He spent a lot of time with a group of friendly centaurs, who told him the stories they had heard from their dragon trade partners about the Shade, and the danger it posed. He would look in the rivers and see his shimmering metallic skin, with glowing runes running the length of his body. he was the strongest creature for miles around!
You can imagine how shocking it was for him to reenter society.
Gryning was suddenly just another cog in the machine, one of thousands with metal skin and magical energy flowing in their veins. This terrified him, as if he was no better than all those around him, how was he strong enough to vanquish the shade? He currently takes residence in this lair, claiming that the ocean is an ideal place to train. But in reality, he takes comfort in the company of Virvel, who expects nothing of him other than a nice conversation while scavanging.
