______ Hope, to put it plainly, is a Time Traveller. He appeared at the entrance of the grocery store one day. The other employees found it a bit strange but quickly resumed work, it was just another strange occurance in this store after all. As long as it wasn't anyone trying to make another ball pit, invite him, or show anyone a copy of the original run of Windmill Time™ then it wasn't anything they were paid to deal with as extra.

Strangely, Hope seemed to be perfectly on time the second he entered, as the elusive owner of the grocery store just happened to be passing by, looking for potential employees. With a grin that was obscured by the light surrounding her face, Wispy declared Hope the newest employee and handed him a card that had "Employee" written in cursive etched into it. Hope could only respond with a clearly strained smile, both because Fae weren't great with facial expression of this sort and because Hope knew what working here would entail. Though the seemingly ever oblivious Wispy just gave him a thumbs up and disappeared to do her supposed work.

Life got strange since then, every day would be trying to figure out what job he got assigned that morning by Wispy. She had a tendancy to switch out the exact jobs of her employees but it seemed to be much more extreme for Hope, being a cashier one day and sorting out a situation with a very frustrated customer who wouldn't stop destroying everything nearby over a bagel recipe. Seemingly only a week has passed and Hope got promoted to the "Secret Employee Rank" that Wispy claims she didn't just make up. She never said what even changed with his promotion because his salary sure wasn't among the list, but he guessed it was fine, whatever appeased his strange employer. As long as there was never anyone who would dare make the incident worse everything would probably be fine in this timeline, even if it meant taking a weird job.

______ That thought was never meant to last. On his usual round of his assigned section of the grocery store, just as he was passing the first level of the basement where the goddess Lucid accidentally released is kept, Hope noticed the time travel equipment built into his apparel emitting a strange signal. It wasn't one he ever expected to have to experience firsthand, it was the urgent warning signal. His equipment never acted like this in this area before and nothing else seemed out of place, perhaps he needed to request an urgent visit to the workshop to fix this. Taking a faster alternate route he rushed to the usual aisles of products that would greet him day in and day out where Wispy would often be seen watching from ontop of the aisles and occasionally narrate interesting events.

The only thing that would greet him was deafening silence...

Suddenly he heard a shuffle, another employee perhaps?
...
Nothing...
Actually now that Hope noticed it there was some sort of power outage in the entire grocery store, how did this place even get power in the first place? Actually that is a question better saved for a different day, he had more important matters on his hands right now. Such as where is this powerful aura coming from? It was silent yet deafening, the air felt thick like the syrup his old home was known for exporting, the darkness was consuming and blinding. It was all too much and he closed his eyes to try and will away the dizziness.
