ABOUT

Filled to the brim with bravery, Sorana stands tall and proud on the outskirts of the town. She knows her job is to protect the clan from any dangers, and she relishes in doing so. Even while not on duty, her eyes always dart to the rolling fields, searching for any enemies. She's good-natured and generally friendly, though often struggles with dragons who lack focus or endanger the saftey of the clan in any way. In her spare time she can be found near the docks, waiting for her pirate girlfriend, Ramona.

HISTORY

Sorana grew up a rambunctious hatchling, running away and "borrowing" items from other dragons (though in her defense, she did give them back in the end). After someone got hurt looking for her, she ended up joining the junior guard, and starting to learn how to protect instead of run away.

Sorana soon became one of the top fighters in her clan, but she never sought to become a fighter. Instead, she chose to focus on guarding the town, and keeping everyone safe. That didn't stop her from seeing battle, and skirmishes caused her to be sent out on patrol with others, despite her protests. While on a patrol, she met Quillon, who told of Clan Volens and their (at the time) meager defenses. With blessings from her clan, she set out to find Clan Volens, and help them establish defenses.

Sorana needed a way to cross over the Windswept Plateau, and found passage about the pirate ship the Wandering Whale. While aboard, she grew close to the pirate captain, Ramona, and after one night involving a leaky faucet and forced bed sharing, they crossed over into girlfriend territory.

Upon arrival, Sorana met Tethys, the commander, and figured out she was woefully understaffed. After much deliberation, Sorana decided to stay with Clan Volens, though she continues to correspond with her family. Sorana now spends her time guarding the clan, though you can often find her waiting at the docks waiting for her girlfriend to return from the seas.

My name is Sorana, and when I was little, I ran away from home. I wasn't gone long, but I was brought back by the captain of the guard. She scolded me for putting the clan in danger. I was confused, and she explained that by running away, even for fun, other dragons had to spend time looking for me. If the clan had been attacked, few dragons would be there to protect it.

Of course, being a hatchling, I didn't understand, and ran away again. Never far, though. Just to the edges of the Southern Icefield, to look out across the water and dream of the lands across. Sometimes the captain brought me back, sometimes a friend, an older brother, a stranger who I'd only glimpsed in town. Always someone, though.

One day, I'd been out there for hours and hours, longer than usual. I was beginning to grow annoyed—this wasn't even a new hiding spot! Half the fun of running away was getting caught. As it began to grow dark, I finally decided to walk back on my own.

I returned to find the village to find it quiet. No dragon dared look at me, and my mom hugged me tight when she saw me.

It turned out the captain had gone looking for me alone, and gotten attacked. The healer wasn't sure if she'd make it. I huddled inside for the rest of the next day, waiting for someone to bring me news of if the wounds she'd received while looking for me would be her last.

She recovered, but the incident shook me good. I stopped running away. The captain had been hurt for no reason, and it was my fault. I wanted to pay her back, and she'd said she accept my apology if I joined the junior guard.

I did, and here I am. And I'm going to protect my clan, and I'm going to bring back any hatchlings who run away to to stare at the sea.
