Alpheus stood solemn at the entrance to the cave. After a few silent moments surveying the scene, he slowly crossed the distance between him and the dragon at the other end. Standing high in front of her prone body he bent his head low to gaze at the two new hatchlings asleep at her feet. Still too young, their eyes had not opened yet, but Alpheus wanted answers.

"Well?" He demanded, glancing over at their mother, "are either of them of Her descent?" He was looking for the one attribute that's vital to his mission, the eyes of the Lightweaver.

Radiance looked at him with venom, she did not speak. This was enough for him, he knew the answer.

"I want them gone immediately." he spoke sternly, absolute. Alpheus took one last look at them, turned, and left the cave without another word.

Seven sunrises later they were gone, Loyalists removing them without remorse, and Radiance was alone again.
