". . . . . please leave."
Background
Hadapae (had-uh-pay) is the daughter of Ayati and the late Airror. Left behind by her father in such a small clan, all she had was her mother and brother, Coriolis, only one of which was ever really reliable. Her mother was and is dedicated to her craft and serving others, so the raising her two hatchlings was put on the back-burner.

Personality & Relations
One could say it was because of such a childhood that
Hadapae grew to be as distant as she is. She's spiteful by nature so she loved conspiring against and snarking others with Cori when they were young. Hadapae was always closest to her brother, but since he's grown into his own role in the clan they've not been as inseparable as they once were. It wasn't until Yersin, and later Futile, joined the clan that she made any real friends and the three quickly grew inseparable.
Role
Hadapae is Captain of the Raptor Bravo team. When she was old enough and first joined the Raptors, she hardly spent her time on anything else. Antisocial, angry, and feeling abandoned by her brother, she didn't really seek out anything else to do like everyone else. Eventually, as the clan gained more structure, Orestes assigned her as Captain, allowing her to dedicate fully her time to protection of the clan.

On the Complexities of the Heart
The only reason she was here was because Cori had insisted. "They're our siblings," he'd
said, "We have to see them." What nonsense. It wasn't her fault they shared blood. How come such a bond required amiable relationships anyway? Yersin killed her brother when she was just three years old.
Nonsense, all of it.
The hatchery was a large open chamber in the Hill - the clan's "castle". The ceiling was made
of glass (a very expensive thing considering the size of the room but an expense well spent most thought) and six tall, arching doorways opened the circular room to the sky, with the exception of the section of wall that connected the chamber to the rest of the massive sandstone castle. Though technically a hatchery, since dragons weren't required to lay their eggs there and few in the clan have eggs often anyway, the room is often empty and used as a hub for relaxation, recreation, and assembly instead. From its dual nature and its shape the room earned its common name: the Egg.
Near the edge of the chamber Hadapae's mother and her two new hatchlings were relaxing
in one of the few shallow pools of water around the room. Her elder son - though still much younger than Hadapae and Coriolis - was also there, sitting beside his mother and watching his new siblings play. Phael, their mother's new partner, wasn't present. Small blessings Hadapae supposed. She didn't even hate Phael. It was just. . . hard to understand how a practical dragon like him could love. . . well, her mother.
As she approached them she could see that, like their older brother, the new dragonets took
after their mother very well. More than her and Cori did. A small part of her wondered if that was part of the reason their mother preferred the new ones over them.
She nodded in greeting when she reached speaking distance, then, remembering her
manners, greeted them verbally. "Azun. Mother," she added curtly, nodding to each of them in turn. They nodded, friendly, at-peace expressions on their faces as the three of them looked to the hatchlings in the pool.
The Ridgeback had a barnacle in its jaws and was trying to keep its Guardian sibling from
getting it. The Guardian was a bit bigger than the Ridgeback and had no fear about tackling the other. The Ridgeback was a male from what she could tell, his distinctive snout horn still non-existed. The other was female.
Another daughter.
"Names?" Hadapae asked gruffly. She was mildly curious to see if Phael's naming conventions
were as bad as that of his parents.
Ayati made a fond sound, not looking up from the youngsters. "I'm thinking," she gestured to
the little Ridgeback, "Avu," she pointed to the little Guardian who'd gotten her own barnacle now, "and Anae."
Hadapae was taken aback. She's naming them. She's naming them with her family's stupid
naming conventions.
"Avu and Anae. I like it," Azun spoke up cheerily. Just like she did for him. Hadapae had
to actively keep herself from scowling. "You're naming them," she commented, keeping her tone indifferent. Ayati nodded. "Phael didn't really mind," she smiled and Hadapae ignored the urge to claw it off her face, "I think he couldn't think of anything himself and that's why he was so encouraging." She hated the mirth in their chuckles and fond gazes.
"You didn't name us." She hated the petty hurt and insolence that crept into her voice.
Ayati looked up and finally actually looked at her. At her first daughter. "It's not a personal
attack that I didn't name you and your brother, " she said placatingly.
Hadapae forced calm and apathy into her voice and posture. "No. Of course not."
Ayati didn't say anymore as the little Ridgeback attacked her claws. Once again that fond
smile covered their mother's snout and she knocked the little male around playfully.
"He's got your color doesn't he?" It took Hadapae a moment to realize she was talking to
her. "Hm?" Ayati picked up her son - Avu - and he squeaked in protest. "Doesn't he?" she asked again. She brushed her claws along his side and belly. "The same pale blue." Azun nodded. "I think you're right, Mother."
She stared at the little blue and grey dragonet, saying nothing on the subject. Avu. He
squirmed in their mother's grasp. She hated him.
The Guardian clambered out of the pool, launching herself at their mother's side in protest of
the unfair distribution of attention. The other daughter. She hated that one too.
"Mother!" came a call from outside, followed by the thud and clatter of landing claws. They all
looked to the open archways. "Ah, Cori," Ayati said fondly. "I'm glad you could make it."
Cori smiled as he approached. "Hello, Mother." He bumped his forehead against mother's, a gesture so affectionate Hadapae had to look down so they wouldn't notice her scowl. At least he had the decency to sit by her - his sister - instead of them.
"Have you guys decided on names yet?" Ayati nodded and introduced the little ones again.
Coriolis looked surprised. "You're naming them?" Their mother nodded. He smiled in return. "That's sweet." Hadapae scoffed so only Cori could hear, "Hardly." He gave her his warning look out of the corner of his eye. "Don't," he said so quietly she almost didn't hear it. She rolled her four eyes but said nothing else.
They all made small talk and played with the dragonets, laughing at their antics. Hadapae
was largely silent, which wasn't abnormal so no one commented about it. After nearly half an hour it was midday and Hadapae took it as her excuse to leave. "Miquoi's caravan's heading out today. I have to go help prep," she explained. She glanced at their mother. "You should get ready soon too," she added as she turned to leave.
"Oh, I'm not going."
Hadapae stopped. "What do you mean?" she asked slowly, looking over her shoulder at the
blue speckled guardian. Ayati shrugged. "I'm not going on this trip," she playfully pinned Anae under one paw, "I'm gonna look after my little ones for a bit." Hadapae was suddenly glad the stone wasn't soft enough for her claws to be able to gouge into. "So now you care about your hatchlings," she grumbled spitefully. She was quiet, but she knew Ayati heard her.
Ayati quietly exhaled. "Hadapae, you know I -"
"No," the mirror whirled, "you don't get to do that. Where you act all nice and apologetic
and act like I'm the one being unreasonable."
"Hadapae - " Azun tried to speak up, glowering as if he was at all threatening. Hadapae
snarled, "Shut it, brat."
"Hadapae, stop. What's with all this aggression right now?" Ayati snapped, sounding
exasperated.
She glared at the oracle she called mother, rage boiling up faster than the tide like it always
does when it comes to fights with her. "You left us!"
Ayati scoffed. "Please, I did not leave you. Stop making me out to be a worse villain
than I am," she snapped back.
"Really? What kind of dragon doesn't care when their mate, the father of their hatchlings,
goes missing? Then goes and acts like eveything's A-OK and that they don't have two young dragonets who need them!? Huh? Who does that?"
"Pae, stop - " Cori tried to interject.
"I had a job to do! Sorry I didn't dote on you every waking moment like a 'proper mother'!"
Ayati snarled over him, eyes rolling with annoyance. Like Hadapae was being unreasonable for wanting her to act like a mother.
"Oh ok, so I guess that's why you keep having hatchlings, huh?" Hadapae challenged.
"They're not an easy burden. They distract you - "
"I love them! Is it that hard to understand!?"
"They distract you from your oh so important job," Hadapae persisted, "And for what?"
"What are you trying to get at -"
"Because you know you were a bad mother. You know!"
"Don't presume to know my mind, child - "
"You know you were a bad mother so you keep laying eggs and raising hatchlings to prove
to yourself that you can be a good mother, but guess what Mom!? You can't take back what you already ruined - "
"Ok, enough!" Cori snarled and stood between them, "We are not doing this right
now. Seriously can you two pull it together!? At least don't shout in front of the hatchlings." He sounded annoyed. Too bad she was too.
"Why do you always defend her!?" He looked at her with that tired, pleading expression he
gets when he doesn't want involved in her conflicts. "I'm not, just. . ." he tilted his head, begging. 'You said you wouldn't do this.'
Her lip curled. "You, of all people, should understand," she spat dejectedly. It almost felt good
how pained he looked. Almost.
They stared at each other for a long moment, before Hadapae finally turned away. "Just so
you know," she addressed her mother once more, her back still turned, "it's Cori's hatchday today."
Resisting the urge to glare one last time, she left, the sharp sound of her claws echoing in
the silent room.

Hadapae scuffled into her cave and plopped into her nest with a huff. Futile looked up from
where he'd been lounging, a questioning warble rumbling from his throat.
She ignored him, curling into a ball like a hatchling. Hadapae listened to Yersin come in from
the other room, a greeting chirp dying on her teeth. Silence. Shuffling scuffling sounds. A huff of breath on her facial fans.
"What happened, Pae?" Futile asked quietly.
She curled tighter in on herself, a quiet whine escaping her throat. Then, embarrassed by the
sound, she pulled one wing over her face. She was getting better at feeling comfortable and less embarrassed of the vocalizations she sometimes made unintentionally, but she couldn't help the curl of shame in her gut sometimes. It was just how they'd raised her. All the dragons she grew up with and helped raise her really pushed to help her 'use her words.' It wasn't until Yersin and Futile that she realized it was normal for a mirror to be as non-vocal as she was, that there wasn't just something wrong with her.
Hadapae felt warmth across her back as Yersin settled behind her. With a sympathetic warble
she nuzzled her face into Hadapae's neck, shoving her way under her wing. "It's ok, Pae," she whispered and Hadapae clamped down on another whine. She felt Futile lay down in front of her, heard the rumble come from his chest, and felt Yersin's wing come over them as best it could. Her wings always had been largest of all of them.
Gently, Futile nosed at the edge of her wing, a quiet request. Wanna come out? She
thought about just keeping her wing there the rest of the day. But she wanted the comfort of her nest-mates more. Slowly and keeping her eyes closed, she moved her wing down to its original position, feeling it rub against the underside of Yersin's wing. Futile wiggled closer
