Biography

Born in an overlooked corner of the Hewn city, the siblings were used to being alone, with only themselves for company. They're eggs had been left there, although they didn't know why they never tried to find their parents; they didn't need to, they had each other.

Luckily there had been books left behind, brittle from age and worn by the weather. They had held together well enough though. The sister had taken an interest in them, she had the patience to spare, her brother did not. She scanned each page, learning the letters with the pictures. It was an ancient language, one that dragon kind had only a thin grasp on, but she learned it. Perhaps it was made easy by her youth and lack of knowledge in the area of her own language or maybe she was just a fast learner. She taught her brother all she could from these wonderful books, of the gods that the creatures had worshipped before dragons had existed. This was the moment that the brother realized they had no names, in distress he mentioned to his sister that this was so. The sister frowned, she murmured that they could make their own names, after all there was no one to do it for them. The brother thought for a moment, for once he moved slowly, carefully and thoughtfully as he turned the page in his sister's book. I will be called Anubis he murmured; the sister nodded, smiling she announced that she would be known as Bast from that moment on.

They lived in an abandoned and crumbling hut in a nondescript corner of the Hewn City for a long time, hardly any dragons from the region ventured into the area as it was deemed incredibly dangerous. Until one day an odd looking Skydancer stumbled upon them, startled she said nothing, merely stared at the two young dragons, who were too terrified to run or hide. As the Skydancer collected herself, she turned to them, trying her best to approach them so that she may help them. Bast trusted her, she thought the dragon was heavenly, and that she must be a goddess, while Anubis thought differently, the Skydancer's colors were too brash, too stark, too harsh and he thought that her eyes were too cold and calculating to trust. Bast asked what the elder dragon's name was, but unfortunately the two siblings had never learned dragonspeak since they had been raised by one another they spoke a language that no one else knew. The Skydancer was confused by this, but as she surveyed the hatchlings, and the building she had found them in she understood. She thought for a time, she couldn't leave them here; once winter struck they would never make it, they would either freeze or starve. Yet, she knew they couldn't go to a light clan, they were too interesting, no matter what clan they were sent too they would be studied and she would not be able to control whether or not they were properly cared for. The Skydancer sighed, they would have to come with her, to the clan in Viridian Labyrinth. The place where outcasts were accepted and the normal were shunned, they would be cared for properly and she would be there to be sure of it. The Skydancer named Aura placed a gentle paw on either hatchling and guided them with her to the place where they would be safe.
