(innovative, scatterbrained, a little...odd)

"Failures? I prefer to think of them as lessons."

Astrape is half of a whole. She does not know how she knows this, it is merely an ache that has been present since the moment her eyes opened. In some attempt to quench this feeling, she stuffed her head with knowledge, closely studying everything from the tiniest insects to the faraway stars. Understandably, she quickly outgrew her quiet backwater clan. Still feeling a sense of emptiness, and hoping it would be filled by achievement, she said her goodbyes and sought out somewhere where she could find purpose.

She was taken under the wing of an old coatl named Ruriske, a scholar by hobby but electrician by trade, who traveled near and far to repair the many unusual artifacts scattered about Sornieth. Here, she found her passion. Under the guidance of Ruriske, Astrape learned to control her magic and breathe life into metal and gear. For once, she did not feel so alone.

A time came when the coatl could no longer travel, and so the pair settled with a clan on the coast of the Sea of a Thousand currents while Astrape finished her training. When the time came, Ruriske elected to serve the Tidelord, and Astrape was left on her own.

She has decided to continue her former master's work, since it is the closest thing to wholeness that she has found. Perhaps, someday, she will find something that fills her completely. Until then, Astrape will continue to wander, offering her services wherever they are needed.

Kermadec is a quiet and introverted dragon, preferring not to speak and instead to listen. His whole life, he has paid close attention to every sound around him--the creak of a branch in the breeze, the scratch of a mouse’s nails against stone, the soft rhythms of waves against the ocean shore. Now, even at his young age, there’s no birdcall he fails to recognize, and no chance of anyone ever sneaking past him. Every new sound fascinates Kermadec, and he dreams of exploring the world to seek out unique sounds--and perhaps he might find a place to learn music, an art which has captured his full attention for as long as he can remember. Clanmates may think him odd, but he doesn’t care for their opinions: he has better things to do, like listen very closely and try to hear an ant’s footsteps. Speaking is far overrated.
