Vintner
The former Chief Warrior of The Focal Company and a mentor to Yami, what once was a feared, terrifying warrior is now an injured, half-drunk vintner, though Antony is now richer than he ever was as Chief Warrior, apparently dragons appreciate wine much more than they appreciate those that protect them. He served at Titania's side for years before eventually meeting his match in a rival clan's guard patrol and getting his leg permanently scarred, though that was hardly the worst tragedy of the day, as he shortly after witnessed nearly all of his comrades killed in front of him.The clan in general can't decide whether his rampant alcoholism is caused by feeling bitter over losing his role as a warrior and being so easily replaced by Titania or if he's genuinely traumatised over the death of his entire warrior troupe. Antony remains popular in the clan regardless of his personal disintegration, because the wine he makes is of an extremely high quality and he can be a rather fun drinking buddy. He's close friends with the florist, Seagrass, as the two both enjoy watching the sunset together on the beach while getting extremely drunk. He met his mate, Cleopatra, shortly after his injury. She was the one who convinced him that his hobby of wine making could become a viable business, and her savvy personality helped him get over much of the depression he had been in. The two are a wealthy pair with similar jaunty personalities, though they are not without their arguments. Cleo is constantly trying to get Antony to engage in politics, and he is half-sure she has some sort of far-fetched idea about the two of them replacing Titania and Oberon as clan leaders. He hates this idea, and pointedly stays as far away from clan politics as possible, he had to deal with it enough as Chief Warrior. The two have one son, Anubis, who is the complete opposite of them both in terms of personality. Still, Antony dotes on his dour son, and is a surprisingly good father despite his alcoholism, which he's always careful to hide around Anubis. The closest thing he has to a daughter is his former student, Yami, now the clan's Chief Warrior herself. The two have a strange relationship, teetering on the edge of siblings and a father-daughter type of dynamic. Whatever the case may be, they're similar to family, and Yami is extremely concerned over her once proud mentor's rapid descent into a bitter alcoholic. |
