Baron grew up in a lonely, isolated childhood. His first real friend was Hazel, a lone Wildclaw who took interest in his naive curiosity and quirkiness. They traveled together for many years, and Baron never did find a way to repay her for sheltering him and feeding him all that time.

It wasn't until he met the Oathbringers that Baron's heart truly grew cold. The crowds of knights and warriors welcomed them with open arms, sheltering them from the war as long as they could provide. Hazel's medicine and herbs were definitely perplexing, but what could Baron do? Nothing. He was utterly useless to them. Instead of feeling like a useless familiar, he left. Flying off into the desolate, dark mountain peaks along the frozen tundra.

He found an abandoned, black, stone tower that stood unmoving against the cold world. Here he rested, plotting and trying to find anything that may aid him. He eventually discovered the Arcane Magic, which he taught himself to use and control. Over the next few years, Baron became stronger, and his power became evermore powerful. At first this magic could have been used to help the Oathbringers, but he had a greater idea. He didn't need to rely on anyone for protection. He would destroy anyone who opposed him, and nobody could stop him.
