Stop shrugging off all the good things just to let the bad stuff stick.

Remember, God’s not a genie in a bottle, or a little golden lamp
He’s just asking for a chance, and a place deep in your heart
someone who will give Him a willing vessel to encamp
And a servant’s life, not just a part
He’s not a genie in a bottle, rub it twice; no thrice, so He’ll appear
He’s the creator of it all, yet you listen to everything but Him
What makes you so sure what the stars say about you is real
But the one that made them isn’t? Won’t help? Or doesn’t care?
What makes you believe the one that made you
would delight to see you in pain? What was there to gain?
Consider this, that what you’ve believed or were always told
Was just someone handing you their broken glass so they didn’t bleed alone?
Come on, don’t just take their word for it — be bold!
So wish you may, and pray I might
That you would come to see the light
The Lord is near, He hears, and cares
There’s more to what you think is there
Next time you look up and see the stars
I hope this poem comes to mind
And you’ll think of this creator of ours
to give your best, and the truth to find.

Find in this hour a will to fight
Our God is near and always there
And He can grant them anywhere
Even when the stars go to rest for the day, and it looks like there’s no way.
Unlike them, He neither naps nor sleeps
And what He says, He thoughtfully keeps
Because He’s not bound to bottles, lamps, and lights
He’s not just listening in the quiet of night
The stars don’t have to align in order for Him to shine
