Home's friendly and extroverted Reserve Chief of Guard, Zohar is known around Home for his approachable and playful personality as well as his extreme skill and abilities. Responsible and fun to be around, he is well-loved around Home and takes his duties extremely seriously.
- Biography
Zohar was born to an all-Dark Sclera Clan in the Windswept Plateau. Friendlier and more inquisitive than is typically encouraged in Dark Sclera society, he never really felt like he fit in among his earliest Clanmates. Extremely magically gifted, he was deemed a prime candidate to join the Guard when he was still a hatchling. Joining an army absolutely did not suit him - like many of the other Dark Sclera dragons at Home who left their society as adults, his primary motivation was escaping this fate assigned to him. The fact that he did not want to join the Guard does not negate his skill, however - aside from his great magical talent, Zohar is extensively trained in aviation, swordplay, and self-defense, and fits in perfectly at Home as one of the reserve chiefs of guard.
- Life at Home
Advanced Wind magic can be somewhat taboo among polite society; while general uses of Wind magic, even used offensively, revolve around using the magic to improve one's own speed and agility, it is possible to use advanced Wind techniques to asphyxiate others, a technique that has been considered highly taboo for centuries. Wind magic users place a much higher emphasis on evasive strategies revolving around outspeeding and outsmarting opponents precisely because Wind magic has such deadly potential, and Zohar is no exception. He is an extremely defensive magician, and teaches his students in Wind magic to have a great respect for all life so that they will not turn to using their magic's more extreme capabilities lightly.
- Relationships
Much more approachable and friendly than most of Home's other faculty members, Zohar's classes are beloved by Home's residents. Though the majority of his focus is on acting as a Chief of Guard, part of those duties do include teaching defense and magic classes. All of Home's young Wind magicians speak highly of Zohar's classes. As soon as Home had another dragon who was also a certified Master of Wind magic (Zohar's former student and current assistant Head of Niflheimr Hall, Velvel), he stepped down from his formerly-held position as resident Wind Master, firm in his belief that masters should let their students do the teaching when they are able, although he still does teach advanced Wind courses upon request. Zohar's upbeat and laid-back teaching style makes him a very popular professor, and his students often feel comfortable coming to him for advice or help, both with their studies and with their personal problems.
- Personality
Generally friendly and upbeat, Zohar is a kind and extroverted dragon. He is rather playful by nature and can usually be found smiling, always willing to have a chat with anyone. Though living at Home has encouraged his fondness for Light culture, he still possesses a great love for Wind philosophies. This is clear in his longing for travel and adventure as well as in his deeply pacifist personal philosophies. He often takes his advanced students on field trips to landmarks local and foreign, believing travel to be essential for growing dragons. Zohar has a deep respect for life in all its forms, teaching his students that all life is precious. He strongly prefers to solve problems without violence (and without even raising his voice, if he can), and even when he is forced to use his magic in a fight, he almost always acts defensively and holds back. He is certainly a dragon who practices what he preaches, and doesn't even eat meat. Despite his very level-headed, calm, and soft-spoken personality, he can be notoriously stubborn, and is known for butting heads with Home's other leadership during faculty meetings, not a dragon who will back down easily if he believes he has something that needs to be said.
