Biography
Solaria was sealed away in the close of an age of conflict and struggle. She would
Euriel was excited, what could possibly sealed within the strange sarcophogus? The band had spent the last two weeks excavating the site and had found many promising relics. A spectacle that allowed the wearer to see through illusion magics, a strange set of lanterns that focused fire magic, a tablet in an ancient dialect that appeared to be some sort of record, and of course most stunning of all the sarcophagus at the center of the tomb. Its surface inscribed with numerous spells and enchantments that would doubtless be of use to the clan's mages. It was odd though, that the spells were still charged, given that the tomb had been left untended for ages past. The answer to the sarcophogus's continued power would no doubt be the greatest prize to be found here, if it could be deciphered.
Jolt was first and foremost an engineer and he found the tomb curious more due to the gold and treasure they had found here than the magic, but even he was waiting with rapt attention as his mages carried out their inspections and carefully recorded each intricate line of the wards covering the room's rectangular metal centerpiece.
Euriel and Dawn moved about the Sarcophagus carefully documenting each groove and line with careful sketches, sent to the size challenged clan members eagerly awaiting news outside. They followed the sketches with charcoal rubbings on large sheafs of paper across the surface of the sarcophagus.
Finally after several hours the two of them agreed they had recorded all that they could, it was time to start trying to release the seals.
The orange glow of Kailua's orange companion drifted in through the entrance to the room, and the three turned in greeting, momentarily distracted by her avatar's arrival.
"I presume things have been progressing well, given that you have neglected to send anything up in some time" droned the glowing orb in its echoing replication of Kailua's deep rumbling voice.
"Of course, of course" muttered Euriel, returning back to rubbing a particularly complex section of runes with his impossibly delicate magical hands.
"We are very nearly done recording the runes" hummed Dawn excitedly
"then we can start trying to crack her open"
"oh we shall do no such thing" uttered the orb
"at least not until we have had time to study these runes more thoroughly, opening that casket may well do irreparable damage, or do I need to go find Virulence to give you youngsters a lecture on caution"
"no maam" replied three voices in unison.
Euriel shuddered just thinking about poor Virulence, an image of his scales sloughing off and purifying causing him to gulp and reflexively flex his claws.
"lets get back to the surface and take a closer look at all these runes then" intoned Jolt as he fluttered over to the entrance with electricity flickering in his jacket like the heartbeats of an automaton.
As the trio exited the once grand marble entrance to the tomb, columns long since collapsed and worn smooth by untold rains, the quiet of the underground was disturbed by a spirited voice.
"These runes are fascinating, I think we've hit the mother load" declared Elodin as he swept over clutching to land before Jolt excitedly waving several of Euriel's sketches in his glowing magical hands.
"I've never seen runes quite like these before, they look similar to some food preservation runes I once saw in the Viridian Labyrinth, but they're clearly distinct".
"That is so very exciting" replied Jolt, his eternal monotone unreadable as genuine excitement or biting sarcasm.
"so what do you think they're preserving, if not food?" asked Euriel.
Elodin leaned his head in close to the trio and quietly but energetically whispered "weapons, if I were of a betting persuasion!"
"Well then we had better go get working"
The group set to the herculean task of identifying and categorizing every single rune that had coated the sarcophagus, once they had completed this, they began their work in earnest, discerning the spells that the runes had been weaved into. When they finally completed their thorough assay, and had identified as best they could each spell carved into the stone. They decided that they were ready to try to release the spells placed upon the ancient sarcophagus.
Euriel shook with excitement, this was what they had been working for since they had first heard rumors of a lost tomb over a year ago. He could feel the eyes of the entire clan boring into the back of his head as he began to ready his spell hands for the delicate work ahead.
