though she had been involved in baldwin's trials of his recent bogsneak discovery, even acting as a test subject herself, gloria had never brewed an egg on her own. as her alchemy skills increased, along with her confidence (some would say recklessness), she decided to give it a try. after many hours laboring over the cauldron, she succeeded. she was nervous about the end result so she kept it stashed away, unincubated, while she considered what to do. however, in the end it was not her decision to make. on january 12th, the raw power and energy of Rupert and Falion's combined birthday party caused the egg to spontaneously hatch! the clan heard a loud crack and confused noises coming from the workshop and rushed to investigate. there they found a freshly hatched bogsneak, still covered in goop and shell fragments, blinking up at them. it didn't take long to figure out what had happened and who was responsible. as Gloria attempted to explain herself, it became clear that she saw the hatchling as more of a research subject than a child, so some of the more parentally inclined clan members decided to step in and take over raising him. as time passed and the baby did not appear to grow or age, Gloria began to suspect that she'd made a mistake in the brewing process. she continues to diligently study him and review her notes, but has been expressly forbidden from making more eggs without the supervision of a more experienced alchemist. despite his unusual origins and condition, the baby is happy, healthy, and well loved by the clan. he enjoys rolling around in the grass, trying to catch brightly colored bugs with his long tongue, and napping in the sun. it was unclear who should have the privilege and responsibility of naming him but everyone felt weird just calling him "the baby." it's been informally decided to call him "Bobby," his favorite word in his limited vocabulary, which seems to be his way of saying "bogsneak."

recently Bobby has made some new friends! some of the adults in the clan heard about Berry's new Sugarmelon Club and now they take turns accompanying Bobby to go play with other permababies. they always have a lovely time playing, eating snacks, and napping together.
