lightningvs1.png While wandering the halls, you have somehow managed to stumble upon a deeper part of the lair. At the end of the hall, a single, massive door stretches from floor to ceiling, it’s metallic surface carefully burnished with beautiful carvings depicting celestial bodies. As you approach, it swings open to reveal… a surprisingly underwhelming room. It’s no larger than the others you’ve seen, and it is decorated with trees woven from wires. Tucked in one of those trees is a small fae, her eyes sparking with electricity while her wings shimmer with stars.
“Welcome to my abode,” The fae says, her monotone voice echoing her face, “I am Chrysaor, a spark of the Stormcatcher. Is there something I can do for you? I may not look like much, but I am here to assist.”

Origins
lightningv2.png Long before the Galestorm Flyers came to be, Chrysaor existed alongside the Stormcatcher, a tiny spark of electricity compared to his lightning storms. Slowly, she grew in power and rose alongside the Lightning God, settling into her role as his assistant and friend. When the Boss began his push for industrial might, she pushed with him, mirroring his actions on a smaller, more focused scale. Eventually, modern dragon breeds and clans began to form, and the Stormcatcher suddenly had much more on his plate. While he worked tirelessly to manage the influx of dragons in the Shifting Expanse, even his godly might could not handle that many dragons at once, and many slipped through the cracks of his reign. Knowing that the satisfaction of his Sparks was necessary to quality production, the Stormcatcher called upon Chrysaor to manage them, asking her to embody a deity separate from the Eleven to comfort those he could not manage. Chrysaor, believing in her creator’s logic, did as she was told and began to make a name for herself. She offered solstice for those who felt abandoned by the Eleven, trying to help guide them through life so they could live as Lightning dragons should: productively. Knowing the forgotten dragons were not likely to trust a deity when they were abandoned by one, Chrysaor set about finding herself a martyr, and when the lonely egg of Amemasu was discovered she took the chance. She passed a tiny portion of her magic power to the pearlcatcher and marking her as a priestess of Chrysaor forever. When Amemasu was killed in the desert, Chrysaor revived her, thus instilling trust in her powers and her graciousness. It wasn’t long before Chrysaor found herself a body to reside in, borrowing the shape of a fae to allow her more access to her followers. Now she resides at the Galestorm Flyers, centering her religious mission there while she attempts to find those who are missed by the Eleven. lightningv2.png

Personality
Despite her godly nature, Chrysaor is not known to be overly grand, dramatic, or self-involved as many stereotype deities to be. Among others, she is a grounded and gentle individual, always willing to speak second and never striving for the last word. She often seeks out those who seem at war with themselves or the world and attempts to guide them towards peace, though not always through following her religion. Chrysaor believes wholeheartedly in her mission and the Stormcatcher’s logic behind it, but she also understands that any creature forced into something will inevitably drag its feet and therefore decrease production in life. Instead, she strives to understand where others come from in their life and tries to offer them advice or solace in any way she can. It came as an unexpected surprise when she took the physical form of a fae in life, as her work often requires her to understand where others come from--a fact that is difficult for the monotone faes. Though she keeps the deadpan expression and monotone voice characteristic of her breed, she tries her best to moderate its off-putting effects by using precise language and translating the fae frill emotional expressions with images. She doesn’t even have anger on her description of images, as she very rarely finds herself truly angry; only when a dragon considers the Stormcatcher to be “cruel” in his work habits. In fact, Chrysaor also attempts to educate the general public on the Lightning Flight’s process to work. In her mind, efficiency is key, not production, but to be efficient one must be not troubled by exhaustion, fear, sorrow, or other high strung emotions. Therefore making dragons happy increases efficiency--this is the philosophy she operates on. She loathes the ignorance many flights have for her flight and God and tries to educate alongside her usual work.

Quote:
So alight with stars - o holy, have you beheld the doe walking in the midnight caverns, have you knelt as the wind haloed your head, have you brushed aside the tassels of the storm and anointed them to your brow? I have seen the eons; I have brushed against the passage of time and found it unmarring. When scales turn to sand, when the sword snaps and two, when the chalice is full and our eyes are clear - so I shall be, fixed and devotional.

During the day, drakes desperately searched for reprieve from the harsh heat in the deserts. However, many forget how cold it could truly get once the sun settled below the sand dunes in the distance, covering this wasteland in an eerie darkness. A cold wind bit at Chrysaor’s wings as she trailed the drake whose life she had just saved. Ever since she’d rescued Amemasu’s egg those years ago, she’d kept an eye on her, hoping one day she would realize her true purpose in life. And, it seemed today was that day.

After her revival, Amemasu was awakened – and not just in the physical sense. The magic she’d gifted the drake when she was younger was finally beginning to blossom, and the realization spread like the plague-ridden locust that had caused her life to end in the first place. Such a disturbing way to truly find one’s self. Never had Chrysaor considered death an option for the pearlcatcher to realize her potential. But the goddess had no time to ponder the past when the mistake had already been fixed. Though Amemasu’s appearance had been shifted due to the events that transpired not too long ago, she was well and alive enough to escape this dastardly desert, and under Chrysaor’s watchful eye, unscathed. There was also something Chrysaor needed to address. The goddess had much in store for Amemasu, having determined her path at a young age, and it was finally time for all those years of preparation to come into hand. And there would be no better place than an abandoned desert to truly begin her task.

Magic had cloaked her existence from the fleeing pearlcatcher. Rarely did she ever show her true form to any drake in existence, but Amemasu was not just a dragon anymore. She was handpicked by Chrysaor herself to spread the word of the goddess’ existence and kindness to the world – to guide and aid the populace who believed to have been abandoned by the Eleven. She was the speaker for her, and to truly solidify her role, Chrysaor knew what she had to do.

A tiny gasp slipped through the open maw of Amemasu as Chrysaor dispelled the magic that had kept her presence a secret for the duration of the pearlcathcer’s journey. Though her true form was not recognized to be one of the many breeds on Sornieth, the shape was basic enough to identify her as a drake. Electricity sparked with no real source through the white sheen that was her form. Though not entirely corporeal until she found a suitable vessel, it was enough to get the job done. The drake whose life she had just saved cowered beneath the crackling sound as the white tendrils snaked around her limbs. She hovered for a moment, staring quietly at Amemasu. Her wordless gaze seemed to cause something to alight behind the pearlcatcher’s eyes, and she bowed her head deeply in respect. So, it seemed her powers had activated. Her true purpose was now revealed.

“Chrysaor…” Amemasu’s whisper was barely audible, and Chrysaor caught the stutter that came with it.

“Amemasu,” Chrysaor greeted with little inflection as she floated slightly closer to the drake she had just saved. Electricity bit towards Amemasu, but to her credit, she didn’t flinch away from the dangerous sparks. “You know your purpose now, do you not?”

“I do, My Lady,” she gulped out. Admiration and fear were mingled in the drake’s expression, and Chrysaor nodded approvingly. “Thank you for saving me.”

“It was not your time, and your potential is too great to have it squandered in a desert.” Amemasu bowed her head once more as Chrysaor lifted her chin. “Be safe on your journey, Amemasu, and do not forget I am always with you.” All it took was a flash of lightning to cause the drake to flinch and snap her eyes shut as Chrysaor disappeared into the void, as if she hadn’t been there in the first place.
