The coarse surface beneath his claws felt comforting, the sharp edges digging roughly against his scales.

The young dragon scurried past his hiding spot, panting and letting out frightened whimpers as the feeling of being hopelessly lost started to set in. Her wings fluttered nervously as her gaze darted between one corridor to the next, body twisting at the slightest noise. Rexxar could hear the blood in her veins pulsing in time with her fear, heart hammering louder than the booms of thunder. The sides of his mouth pulled into a malicious grin.

"Are you lost, little one?" A startled yelp of fear was his only answer. Large, uncertain eyes followed his movement, and he made sure his mask of kind concern was easily readable. The young Pearlcatcher was immediately drawn to his eyes, a chocolate brown that promised nothing besides warmth and good intentions. So hypnotized she was, that she failed to notice the very walls shift behind him, and his smile full of teeth.

"Don't worry, darling, it's not like you want to be found, right?" Rexxar's voice was a purr, his tail looping casually over her shoulder. It flicked lazily at her ear, and she flinched violently, trying to hide her only cargo from his sight.

"P-please.." Apprehension gripped her voice, and he could tell she was on the verge of losing any nerves she had left.

"After all.."

Craning his neck around to face her, honey bronze pupils darkened, his irises becoming thin slits as he bared his maw. His tail wound its way around her neck, the petrified figure finding herself a hapless prey, and squeezed.

Her magic fought to wrangle itself from his hold, but her strength was draining with the lack of oxygen in her lungs. As the young dragon began to slump, his grip only tightened cruelly. Gaze fixed hungrily on the orb she clutched so desperately to her chest, a sinister chuckle filled the enclave.

"Why else would you come to the lair belonging to the Eater of Souls?"
