Biography
||The Paracidic Pearl||
Arnoldii is one of several hatchlings of parents already sent to serve under the Plaugebringer. It seems the pair had somewhat of a nack for producing children with strange abilities. In the case of this dear Pearlcatcher it seems he has the power to drain the life force of plants and other forms of nature. Grass and flowers are almost instantaneously shrivelled and dry the second he steps on them, he likes to fly most places around the lair and surrounding area so he doesn’t leave tracks or need constant accompaniment of a nature dragon to fix the trail he leaves. Bushes require more effort but can be manages very easily in a short space of time if he were to stand by one whereas trees stand a greater chance against his power when he’s not concentrating. However if he were to focus he can create a giant rotting hole in a forest within seconds, it fuels his power and acts as a replacement for food if he drains a lot and doesn’t use it for magic. The life force he drains is stored within his pearl which glows eerily along with the odd pattern on his body, the more strong the glow the more is stored with it.
For obvious reasons Arnoldii isn’t allowed anywhere near where the food is kept, he likes to hang out in Ruza’s plague den as most like to do who are in a similar situation. It seems he has the power to give the life force he stores to others if they touch his pearl, it doesn’t exactly heal because it works differently for him than others. The power helps casual exhaustion to extreme fatigue and tiredness, very helpful on the battlefield or those who have just come back from long trips. He often offers his services up to the night watch to give them a boost if they’re more tired than usual. Arnoldii travels almost every day to a nearby forest and sits in the tops of various trees to absorb energy, he swaps them every time to allow them to replenish.
Those who have had the pleasure and misfortune to see this dragon fight might have their opinion changed to see him as some kind of monster or extremely powerful being. He often refuses to use his powers to fight other creatures unless in mortal peril but one day proved that his abilities and strange way of being would save the lives of most of the clan. A rouge Coatl, sworn off of dragonkind and who had found refuge with the beast clans was laying waste to everything in her path. Warnings came thick and fast but no one could have expected one dragon to be so strong, even in a group with the upper hand of their land she proved herself a powerful adversary, feeding off the bloodshed she simply grew stronger and stronger. Ailith. A nature dragon she fed off of pure life itself, blood. Draining his clanmates half to death he lunged into the field, his pearl clutched tightly by his tail he faced his foe. The two were perfect opposites in the sense if their flights and their principals but they were bound by the same ability to feed off of life but with one crucial difference: Arnoldii kills it in the process.
Every single drop of blood on the battlefield turned thick and brown the moment he landed, he concentrated to spread his control towards the invader and not his allies. Those who were injured were rushed off the field at his command so they didn’t fall ill to his powers too. He was now her target. Full of rage she lunged at him. While his frame is thicker than a typical pearlcatchers she was still slightly larger, feathered wings spread wide as her imbued claws sunk into his neck and tearing his flesh clean apart. He gurgled for a moment. Thick, disgusting black ooze that was once blood slide down his neck and to the ground. They locked eyes. The Coatl could not use this to heal herself like she had done with fresh blood. A trick. It must all be a trick she had killed countless plague dragons. As she was distracted the wound began to seal and Arnoldii took the chance to real back his head and slam his horns into her face. Taken aback she gouged at his eyes, his face, anything she would reach... The only successful damage she ever manage to apply was knocking two of his teeth clean from his rotten gums before they could heal. This went on until she grew tired and confused. Ailith was finally subdued after all this time.
Healers beg to study a plague dragon who seems to be a perfectly healthy specimen from the outside but further study of his insides seems to prove otherwise. But dragon medicine can only study what insides get outside of the body like spilt blood for instance. The clans healer believes his ability is so strong he instantly rots himself when sustaining an injury as logically if his insides were permanently rotten he would be dead. Others argue his pearl holds the key to keeping him alive and if it were to run out of power or be lost/broken he would die with it as his insides rotted completely. Arnoldii doesn’t really want to find out if he’s perfectly honest.
