Biography

oGOzL7d.png BANDIT
My soul will find no peace until I am blinded by the dawning light of tomorrow

>one of a few people of human origin brought to the Oasis by Kneph
>grew up with his best friend Kha-a and Kha-a's mother as farmers and fishers
>would go on rides and adventures through the desert with his friend
>"they were very good friends", historians say
>SIKE, he was madly in love with Kha-a but never said anything
>it's not that he was bad at hiding it, it's just that Kha wasn't actually good at telling
>Kha-a would always tell him how he wanted to make sure they gathered a lot of Drachmae and gold so they could leave their hard lives behind and go live a life of adventure together
>Seq loved Kha's enthusiasm and would longingly look at him during nights while he would ramble on at the campfire
>the village he lived in was a place where bandits would frequently pass through, and it was never particularly safe
>one afternoon, with skies shifting from orange to purple, and small clouds streaked across the heavens, as the faint evening fogs were appearing throughout the land and the denizens of earth were heading to rest, a group of desert riders arrived
>followed by clouds of dust and sand, with their saddles and reins clinking through the torch-lit environment, these dark, hooded figures on horses and camels, adorned with bones and wraps, rode into the village
>the bandits were not in a good financial situation and, knowing they had to gather money fast, they targeted those who are always the most vulnerable
>the farmers feared, the simple folk were maybe used to the bandits' presence, but not this sort of violence
>Kha's mother was outside, storing some baskets and putting the fish out to dry when the bandits saw her
>she was wearing a few necklaces and a brooch, which instantly caught their desperate eyes
>they robbed Kha's mother, taking some important heirlooms of hers
>mother asked both of them, who were adolescents at this point, not to pursue the bandits nor try to retrieve the stolen items, and while Seq was heartbroken for his friend's mother, he listened to her
>Kha-a, however, didn't
>Kha took his horse and rode off into the desert during the night to find the camp and retrieve the items, or at least some of them
>Seq knew immediately what was going on and, terrified, he rode off into the night to track his friend down
>he followed the horse tracks and ended up finding the camp, along with his friend trying to loot the bags while the bandits were resting and talking
>the camp was lit by a warm glow of the campfire, only a murmur of the sitting culprits could be heard, while a warm desert night breeze was caressing the underbrush
>Seq approached Kha behind the rock next to the crates and desperately tried turning him back
>with the sound of a falling satchel and the clinking of coins, the bandits were alerted by the commotion and immediately noticed the duo in the darkness
>Kha snatched the satchel and dragged Seq away towards the horses
>each got onto their horse and, as Kha-a had always been courageous and righteous, he whipped out his bow and decided to fight off the bandits who were already getting onto their mounts
>Seq got overwhelmed by a feeling of dread, knowing this couldn't end well, particularly since they were strongly outnumbered
>despite the fact that Kha was a really good bowman, he couldn't fight them all off
>in the heat of the moment, as the galloping of horses over the sandy dunes echoed through the night, the bandits managed to separate the two
>Seq was desperately trying to get closer to his friend but the bandits weren't opening a way
>Kha was fighting them off well, but since he was carrying the satchel, the bandits were targeting him
>Seq managed to take the two bandits on horses down, and just as he embedded his blade into the camel rider's throat, one of the bandits pursuing his friend shot Kha down
>Seq hollered, with his world in slow motion, the desert night fell silent with a thud on the sand
>the rest of the bandits rode off into the dunes while Seq jumped off his horse, overwhelmed by the emotions of terror, frantically running towards his friend
>he fell on his knees, Kha's lifeless body in his arms, crying out to his love not to leave him

but no one answered.
>a limping figure from the dark approached Seq from behind
>one of the horsemen he took down survived, and he hit Seq with his sword's handle and knocked him out
>the once golden desert sea, now dark and stained with blood, along with the night shrouded in stars, became silent as the last rider fled with his horse
>Saq awoke later and found out that his worst nightmares were a grim reality
>he took Kha's body and put it on his mount, slapping the horse's haunches to make them run home, carrying Kha, as Seq ran off into the night after his only love's killers
>he got lost among the shifting sands, with the sun approaching the horizon and his head pounding from the blow, he saw an approaching caravan of camels and nomads
>his entire world was shifting, and with what he thought were his last moments, he blacked out, fell off his horse and collapsed on the sand
>the same nomads helped him get back on his legs and deliver the letter to Kha's mother, letting her know that her adopted son left to avenge her blood
>he spent two seasons trying to track down the bandits, seeking to kill them all, but to no avail
>the change in his personality was immediate; from a sweet yet pessimistic but at the same time caring and kind boy, he became a vengeful soul lost in his pain
>him and his horse rode alone, he started killing any bandit he would come across, consumed by the rage, the pain and the possibility of him never being able to find his love's killers
>he became a killer himself, he became something he hated the most
>after losing any trail, be it physical or word of mouth, he was heartbroken, lost and desperate among the sands, in the noon sun
>he got off his horse and lied on the dry soil, expecting Nekhbet or Wadjet to take him, then oddly dozed off right as a big, imposing figure approached him

>Seq awoke with his horse in a completely different place, similar yet different
>it was a desert just like his, hot and golden, but he felt lighter and each breath he took gave him a stronger surge than any taken on Earth
>not knowing he had been taken by the flaming deity Kneph and brought to the Tesheret, now changed into a new form, he was left with the bandit gang led by Unut and Baru
>he was lying on the sand just outside the camp, the fancy and sophisticated tents just out of sight due to the dune in front of him
>he heard voices and saw smoke from a fire, which made him investigate and head towards the source
>he grabbed the horse's reins and leaded them over the dune
>he reached the summit, headed down, still a bit hazy, although when he saw that the bandits weren't human, but to him looked like beasts he had never seen before, he freaked out and instantly assumed a defensive stance, threatening everyone that he was going to harm them if they approached him
>to his surprise, they all spoke the same language as he did; he thought he was hallucinating, among the gods or just dead, couldn't believe his eyes
>as he stepped back, he bumped into Baru who swiftly took his sword away
>surprised by another humanoid figure, he panicked one last time when Baru calmed him down
>they offered him water, which he refused at first, but since the group was kind and supportive of the stranger they had just met, he accepted the bowl
>he spent several days with the group, getting accustomed to the new people, slowly learning that the bandits he knew weren't comparable with this new group he was in
>after a few months, Unut's and Haker's gangs grouped up as they usually do when they have new larger tasks to take care of
>they heard of a problem some villagers further up the stream of the Nekhir were having with soldiers and other bandits, soon finding out that the problem was rooted much deeper than initially thought and that the main culprits were the regime, captains and tax collectors who had a negative impact on the region
>he became close friends with Neb User, basically the only person he would talk to and open up to
>they had a task to retrieve a convoy and several different carts that were taken from villagers, and at first he refused to participate in any sort of bandit work but he soon realised that these bandits were just outlaws helping common folk and fighting against the regime, rather than stealing from the villagers
>after the successful heist, he met numerous villagers who were thankful, and for a moment he felt like the group he was in, a family of bandits, were actually people who were saving his life
>they had a celebratory evening at the bonfire, drinking wine and beer, eating good food; Seq was listening to Neb talk on and on about good times and accomplishments of the group, who then talked directly to Seq and asked him whether he would like to join him for some wine one of these evenings after they had delievered the last few carts
>Seq was startled, emotions took him over, he had found both himself and Kha-a in Neb and this new friendship
>finally realised he once again had a place to belong

>but HEY, this ain't your regular growth and character development story, alright??
>remember Kneph, the flaming god of the universe? the one who brought several other people to the Oasis?
>well, Kneph wouldn't just write a gay tragedy and then leave it as a tragedy
>you know that episode of The Amazing World of Gumball when Gumball just had to be included in the story of another character by making sure he fixed everything for them? yeah, that, basically
>Kneph resuscitated Kha and brought him and his mother to the oasis that same night when Seq rode off after the killers, without Seq knowing that
>he was later reunited with both of them and nearly lost his mind, but in a good way
>yaaaaaay megahappyending
