A Plague Priest, and ambassador from the nearby reaches of the Wandering Contagion. Skada was raised in the rough, harsh wastes of a clan by a pair of warrior dragons. Initially, his low strength and endurance disappointed his parents, but as he grew to adulthood his intellect and wisdom became more apparent. The clan leader took him aside and began to teach him the ways of the Plaguebringer. Skada’s thoughts turned cinical and pragmatic, but his devotion to the Plaguemother appeared unfaltering.

Eventually a time came, not long before Skada’s ascension to adulthood, when the clan was approached by a dark pearlcatcher, dressed all in black. The clan leader sequestered away with him for some time, but eventually they came out of her den and she announced that Skada would be going away with him, to the Freeflight Clan, as an ambassador. She gave Skada a letter of endorsement as a priest of the Plaguenringer, and he said his goodbyes. Finally, as he was saying farewell to his parents, he saw pride and love in their eyes.

When Skada first laid eyes on the Freeflight City, he was justifiably confused. All he’d known, all his life, was the brutality of his homeland, and here was a place that spouted personal freedom off of every bamboo twig, every fluttering kite, every carefree dragon. He kept his concerns to himself however, and observed. He watched as the tent city took to the skies as an airship city, and mixed throughout it all was the politics and backstabbing he had been expecting.

Eventually Skada returned to the Wastes of his homeland for a brief sojourn. As he entered it for the first time in forever, he realized how soft he had grown. He was sent on an errand from Kokiri Clan-Mother herself; she had heard that there was to be a mass hatching of epic proportions, and had sent him to bring back some hatchlings. He spent months ferrying young dragons back to Wind territories, and hauling the clan’s gems which had been entrusted to him. Eventually a hatchling burst forth that was so striking that Plague dragons everywhere were itching to get their claws on him. Recognizing the threat to the hatchling, Skada bet all that he had to save this hatchling from such a fate. He immediately returned to Wind clans, fearful of retribution, to introduce the clan to his new charge.

As the young dragon grew, Skada realized that he was still in danger. Now known as Knakurr, his differences made him a target to bullying and worse. Skada kept the hatchling close, teaching him the tenents of his Plague ancestry, and even grew an affection to the young dragon. But one day his charge disappeared; not finding him anywhere, Skada eventually travelled the secret ways to the Underthing.

Finding his charge in the damp dark of the Underthing while avoiding the monsters that lurked in the deep was a challenge, but eventually Skada prevailed. But just as the two were reunited the worst happened; they were sniffed out by one of the things that had been incarcerated in the Underthing for eons untold. Skada pushed Knakurr out in front of him, taking a fearful blow from the monster in the process. Thanks to his sacrifice, Knakurr escaped the Underthing; but Skada remains, trapped or dead, hiding from the monsters in the deep dark of the Underthing.

PERSONALITY TRAITS

Withdrawn to himself and with no friends, no dragon knows his inner thoughts. Dashing, but he ignores all who would approach him. The occasional display of compassion surprises even him. Sometimes the differences between the Freeflight Clan and the Scarred Wastelands confuses him.

IDEALS

Looks to the Plaguebringer and his lessons as a child in a Plague clan for guidance. Believes the strongest dragon should rule and children should make a clan stronger.

FLAWS

Cinical, he looks twice at any information laid before him. Does not trust other dragons, except maybe his home clan. Maybe.

DISCIPLE

Skada and Knakurr's relationship is obscure and mysterious. Few know of it, and those who do hide the knowledge in fear of the mad dragon's retribution for telling one of his secrets. The truth of the matter is that in the time of his great need, Skada saved Knakurr from a terrible situation at birth, and at the time of his greatest need sacrificed himself to let Knakurr live.
