[Dedwen is standing next to her pile of linens for sale, in the dusty, sunlit street, surrounded by wondrous and colourful buildings and walls, and one of the canals of the river that passes through the village]
[she looks over to the palm trees on the very corner where the road splits, and looks at the people standing there in the shade]
[she quickly nudges one of the farmers who is standing close to her and chatting; the farmer is Besa, he turns around]
Dedwen: In peace, neb. Say, who is that person beneath the palm tree over there? Holding the stick?
[points at Kneph]
[she doesn't notice that the "stick" is an axe]
Besa, excitedly: Oh, that is our resident dog, she guards the place and wanders about. She is our divine protector.
[Dedwen, utterly confused by the answer, gives Besa a puzzling and perturbed look]
Dedwen: What. What- no, not the dog. I'm asking about that big hunk under the tree. Over there, in the shade.
Besa, ecstatically and a bit relieved that he can explain: I see! That is our artisan, nebet. He travels around the city and paints the walls in his own special fashion!
[Dedwen flashes a smug, wondering expression and puts her hand on her chin]
Dedwen: Trans artisan, fair neb? Yes, I can certainly consider than as an option.
[Besa points at the dog who just got up from his sitting position, with a paintbrush in his mouth]
Besa: Look! He is getting up and heading towards the wall! If we are patient, we might see him bless us with his fantastical creations.
