Born to Wind, the discoloration of Arianwen's eyes is due to a close encounter with frost magic, and a mark of her failing vision. Despite the loss of much of her sight, she gets around well enough, and relies on her antennae and orb in combat more than her eyes. While she still has a penchant for wandering off to adventure alone, since her injury she has taken to bringing a familiar along with her to help scout the terrain. The swan Posy is a treasured gift from Aria's mate, Heartwhisper, and a fierce warrior in his own right.

Aria can't remember how long she spent traveling alone after leaving her first clan, but she came to prefer her own company during that time, as she honed her battle skills and decided on who she wanted to be. If pressed, she describes those years as a second incubation, from which she hatched anew into the dragon she is today. What she is certain of is that her wandering came to an end the moment she met Heartwhisper, and resolved to stay with this new clan. No matter where she goes now, she always comes home.

Of more recent importance to her is the Gaoler Ruruvan. He was the one who found her when she was blinded in battle, and he nursed her back to health as well as returned her to her clan. She considers him a brother, and the two can often be found sparring or testing their strategy with games of sticks and pebbles. He is also teaching her to use ice magic, a side effect of the spell she partially absorbed.
