______ Zehir didn't mind. He had never been one for looks. ______ The slow coating of his skin and feathers had a second side effect, one more desirable than the first. After a spilled batch of poison made the whole lair sick, all except Zehir, he discovered he had built an immunity to all versions of venom and poison. Ever since, his favorite food was venomous frogs and snakes. Not only did he like the looks everyone gave him while eating them, there was also an abundance of them, since no one else would touch them. ______ Orros, his Ichor Nymph, loves to help him collect ichor, poison, goo and ink. She's a tad narcoleptic, and can often be found fast asleep in his scarf. He often employs the tiny sprite to crawl into places and gather ingredients he can't reach, but often she falls asleep and he has to snake her out. Still, he has a soft spot for her, and takes her everywhere he goes. Possibly because she's so quiet. Zehir loves the quiet, going as far to create a potion of silence he likes to throw at anyone who disrupts his brewing. His mate has learned sign language to combat this, and teaches it to the other members of the clan. ______ The clan comes to him for many things, from poison to coat weapons and claws with, to ink for tattoos or scrolls, to even more powerful things, like potions to change breed or genes. Once, Zehir even made a potion that turned a dragon back into a hatchling. Permanently. Like most coatls, Zehir loves to hum and whistle, but he doesn't do it in front of anyone, and denies it if you bring it up. All his clanmates know to wait until they hear Zehir humming to ask any favors, as he only does it when he's in the best of moods.

”No, this trick won't work... How on earth are you ever going to explain in terms of chemistry and physics so important a biological phenomenon as love?” Zehir had found the egg while he and Orros were out gathering ingredients. From what the Coatl could tell it was from a Light dragon… but why was it out here all alone? The sight left the pair oddly confused. But his unspoken question was answered when he reached out and picked the egg up. He sensed something not right about it. Something didn’t develop right… as it was now it’d never hatch. He looked at up the nymph on his shoulder and a grin spread across his face. He had a new experiment. The Coatl took elements from himself and from Orros to made a serum to try and reinvigorate this poor unborn dragon. He placed the egg in a container along with the serum and waited. And waited. And just for good measure Zehir waited some more. Then after what had seemed like an eternity he noticed the shell of the egg started to fade away until it had |
He smiled. “You are such a beautiful victory. You have beaten what most could not and I will always protect you.” He then reached into the container and picked up the odd creature.
