CULEX MAGE
Vertical banner of lightning striking a rocky landscape, with electric blue highlights. This build is for supporting two fighters. It works best with Culex fighters, who also have 50 quickness, but can support virtually any two strength-based builds for grinding for loot in the higher-level venues for long stretches.

Meditate to build breath, and use her abilities as needed.

Contuse is a neutral (non-elemental) attack that does a little damage, and reduces enemies' damage by 25%.

Shock is a Lightning elemental attack that has a chance to stun enemies for several rounds. It does double damage to Light, Ice, and Water enemies, and half damage to Arcane and Lightning enemies.

Aid is a powerful heal. With Hanauma's intelligence score, Aid will heal herself or her allies for 790 hitpoints.

Rally increases the strength of the target dragon by 30 points. This is not useful when applied to intelligence-based mages like Hanauma, but extremely useful for strength-based fighters, such as her allies.
Considerations:
  • This build is best utilized for boss-hunting in the higher-level venues, especially the Golem Workshop, where the bosses are very tough. Generally, mages aren't needed for the Crystal Pools & lower, since 3 fighters can usually make quick work of even the bosses in those venues without taking much damage.
  • If you are still learning and struggling to keep your fighters alive, a mage can help smooth the learning process by keeping everyone up, not just in boss-hunting scenarios.
  • Hanauma can be placed either first or last in the turn order. Placing first allows her to Rally the fighters before they move, useful in boss fights, while placing last allows for quicker fight clears, since the fighters could potentially clear the enemies before you need to spend time on her turn.
  • If you need some fighters, you can borrow any two of Aristoteles, Manyeyes, or Iytenzrath. If you would prefer Culex fighters to pair with Hanauma, they can be found in the General Farmers category of the Lending Cycle.
  • Because Contuse does less damage than Shock, it is best used against enemies that resist Shock (Arcane & Lightning enemies), and against bosses for the damage reduction debuff Contuse applies.

Charged Rhinohide I don't know Hanauma's history too much, but I received her, along with 10 other dragons, from hawchoo, who donated her to the Lending Cycle before going on hiatus. She came with her Culex mage build as-is, and I decided to keep her as-is, since I didn't already have one for lending available, and her element was well-enough suited.
