Dating Tinic
Lore time!!
It was a clear and chilly morning in Civitas, the sun hadn't even peeked the land and yet already Lioesky was up and wide awake. She shuffled nervously, waiting on the old Norshevorlk bridge for her employer, who she hadn't actually met before. Hopefully this job wouldn't be a dead-end as other career possibilities had been many times before. A greeting from the distance behind her startled her out of her trance, she quickly turned to see a brown imperial dragon soaring through the air, her leather-like wings going against the wind to slow her to a halt before she landed on the railing of the wooden bridge. The bridge swayed slightly, letting out a couple creaks as the dragon repositioned herself and smiled.
"Hello!" She spoke loudly, "My name is Floofer, I'm the one who contacted you, assuming you're Lioesky?" Her voice was high, clear, and filled with excitement. Lioesky smiled, surprised by Floofer's enthusiasm.
"Yes, I am! Specifically because, well, you mentioned a possible job in your letter?" She phrased it as a question. Floofer was quick to respond.
"Yes, perfect! You see, I've heard from some that you are pretty quick with your wings, and that you have a wonderful memory, which is why I have come to contact you about you becoming a messenger!" Each sentence was laced with a growing motivation and passion. Lioesky was taken aback for a moment; Would she make a good messenger? She supposed it wouldn't hurt to try, a job was a job after all.
"Ok, I'm interested. So, how does it work?" She smiled somewhat sheepishly, her motivation slowly evolving.
"Wonderful! Here, come along and I'll show you how it's done!" Floofer beamed, before quickly turning around and launching herself from the railing, leaving the bridge creaking behind her. Lioesky panicked slightly, before quickly spreading her wings and flying after her. It didn't take long for Lioesky to catch up, even if Floofer flew quickly, Lioesky matched her pace. She watched Floofer's analytical gaze as she watched the streets below, until her pupils dilated and she plunged down, her wings tucking in. Lioesky swooped after her, although a bit unsure at first, following Floofer's lead of unfolding her wings at the last second to land a bit smoother, although the speed was still a bit much for Lioesky as she trotted forwards clumsily to gain her balance back. Floofer chuckled slightly at the ameteur before turning her attention to the mostly black dragon in front of them. He had a white mask and long dark robes on.
“Issac, good to see you, what message would you like delivered today?” Floofer spoke casually, a bond clear between the two of them.
“I’m well, although I feel that question is more suited towards your friend here,” The male coatl - Issac - jested. “I’d like a message sent to Tinic, I’ve found the herbs he’s been needing except for greenhorns, but he should check with his fellow mages Viswegron and Inndego about their supply.” Floofer quickly repeated it to confirm.
“To Tinic, Issac’s found all the herbs but greenhorns, but believes Viswegron and/or Inndego may have some.” Issac nodded, handing Floofer a small bag, clearly full of coins. Floofer pocketed the bag and glanced towards Lioesky, before once again spreading her large wings and catapulting herself upwards. Lioesky following not too far behind.
While they flew Lioesky had much to ask: “How do you know where to go, and actually, how did you know he needed a message?”
“It’s easy!” Floofer stated. “When someone wants a message they’ll wave you down. You listen and relay the message and who its for and they give payment, usually 100t. Then you go to the recipient, and if you don’t know where the recipient is or would be, then you ask. Most will tell you where the recipient will be before you get the message to give them, but I’ve been doing this for a while, so knowing where everyone is is just natural at this point.” By the time she was done explaining, the sun had started to rise, and more and more dragons began to litter the streets and sky. It wasn’t long before they had reached the tall towers that the mages occupied, landing on the balcony that Lioesky presumed belonged to Tinic. Floofer knocked on the door, and after a couple seconds it opened, revealing a pale dragon with red garments and a large pearl held in one claw.
“Hello?” His meek voice mumbled.
“Hello! You have a message from Issac.” Floofer greeted kindly.
“Ah, I see. Please do tell.”
“Issac has collected all the herbs you need except for greenhorns, but wants you to check with Viswegron and Inndego to see if they have any.”
“Hmm… Thank you.” Tinic reached for his pocket, pulling out a few coins and handing them to Floofer. “A tip for your troubles.”
“Ah, thank you as well then!” Floofer nodded, before turning towards Lioesky, then the open sky. The both of them cast themselves upwards, heading closer to the city for more possible messages. As they did, Lioesky spotted a small green and orange fae waving frantically towards them, and nudged Floofer. Floofer spotted them, and hovered for a second.
“How about you take this one on your own? Now that you know how to do it, lets see what you can do!” She smiled encouragingly as Lioesky’s eyes widened slightly. Lioesky felt nervous, but also so excited to try something new, smiling back before plunging down for her first message of her new job as a messenger.
