THE OCCURRENCE OF A LITTLE EGG

The winds blew harshly against the cliffs, the wind-chimes clanged violently against each other and the kites spun frantically in the air.

Arcturus settled himself beside his restless mate. "They'll be no flying out. Windsinger hasn't calmed all week." He tried to distract her from the billowing storm outside, though the older warrior wasn't very good at making her any happier.

Mira stared out of the cave entrance where they had taken a respite from the storm nights ago on their way to bear their first nest together in their homeland. "We were so close," she whispered frustratedly. It pained her to know that her first clutch wouldn't lay nestled in a nest blessed by Plaguebringer, their birth-deity.

The imperial nuzzled his new mate comfortingly. "This cave will do, out of the wind and warmed by you." He nudged her to her feet as she sighed and turned back to the make-shift nest he had built haphazardly at the very back of the small cliff-side cave.
Her first nest wouldn't know the glory of Plague like their parents did, but they'd know the winds well, and they'd know love.
