Biography
The Arcanum has always been a clan dedicated to learning how to harness the mystical energies of the world, and its progenitor, Winter, had a humble beginning. She hatched, alone, in the Frigid Floes of the Southern Icefield. Winter had to grow up incredibly quickly, having no one to rely on for food but herself. She learned how to turn a hunter's claws into gleaming bait for fish, and she quickly learned to value wit and intelligence over the brute strength of most of her kind. That's not to say that she can't be brutal, for her savagery was well known throughout the Southern Icefield, but Winter has always preferred battles of the mind over those with teeth and claws. Winter sought to widen her knowledge, and she knew that it was time to leave the cold lands she called home. It was through her journey to the Tangled Wood that she met her mate, Ezekiel, a Fae who was also traveling toward the Shadowbinder's domain. He shared her curiosity about their world, and the two settled down in the Wispwillow Grove with one another. Little did they know, their clan was taken note of by dragons that had long since been assumed extinct.
Winter and Ezekiel's clan thrived under the Shadowbinder's guidance, growing stronger and larger while lurking in the shadows. Of course, they could not stay in the Wispwillow Grove forever. Winter and Ezekiel still desired knowledge that they weren't going to find in these woods, so their clan packed up and moved toward the Starfall Isles. It was a long, hard journey, and some clan members chose to remain behind and loyal to the Shadowbinder rather than risk so much for a sense of understanding that couldn't be guaranteed. Winter has always been steadfast in her goals, though, so those who stayed behind were simply forgotten. She wanted answers. How did she hatch in her frigid homeland without anyone keeping her egg warm? Why does she roam this world? There had to be some greater purpose to all of this, right? She would not get the answers that she desired.
Unknown to Winter at the time, a small swarm of Veilspun had tagged along on their clan's journey from the Wispwillow Grove to the Focal Point of Starfall Isles. Once the clan settled in their new home, the swarm waited for a moment of vulnerability. They found it in Hecate. The young Gaoler was lured away from Winter, Ezekiel, and the others, and she returned to the clan a week later, looking entirely different from how she did before. When Winter asked the suddenly minuscule dragon what happened to her, she found her eyes drawn to Hecate's fluttering wings. Winter can't remember anything of what happened after that.
All she knows is that a tiny blur of gray and purple hasn't left her line of sight ever since.
