Biography

Gender
{SS}
- Male: Provider, Protector, Breadwinner, and Leader
Ex: Vernon Dursley, Albus Dumbledore, Ron Weasley, and Harry Potter
A) Old Fashion Male Role: Vernon is the provider of financial means, the protector of Petunia, and the leader of the household beyond the house.
Evidence:
B) Modern Male Role: Albus Dumbledore is the headmaster at Hogwarts who is highly respected by his peers which mean he also falls into the role of a provider. He is also a protector because of how he handled Harry’s situation by placing him with muggles and giving him the cloak of invisibility. However, he is more open-minded to those around him and is willing to listen to them.
Evidence:
C) Modern Day Young Male: Ron Weasley struggles with the task of becoming a provider due to him being the youngest male in the Weasley clan. He has much to live up to but he too becomes a protector of Harry and Hermione as they faced many trials together. He does not lead, but he does provide opportunities for Harry who is clueless at times on what to do.
Evidence:
D) Modern Day Young Male: Harry Potter struggles to find a place in the world. When he was with the Dursleys he was forced to provide by doing chores around the house. He had to protect himself from Dudley. But once the world of wizards and witches were known to him he became a leader and not only a protector of himself but to his friends, he met along the way and became a provider for himself through financial means that his parents left him.
Evidence:
- Female: Nurturer, Queen of the castle, Follower, and Fragile
Ex: Petunia Dursley, Minerva McGonagall, Hermione Granger
A) Old Fashion Feminine Role: Petunia Dursley is a stay at home housewife who nurtures Dudley by spoiling him and allowing him to always get his way. In some strange way, she nurtures Harry by giving him what needs to survive but not enough that he is comfortable. She is the queen of the house and Harry is her slave. While also Petunia is extremely fragile when it comes to anything about the magic world of witches and wizards. Any mention of that world or her sister would send her into a defensive mode where she constantly uses words to belittle their existence.
Evidence:
B) Modern Female: Minerva McGonagall is the complete opposite of Petunia. She nurtures more than one child by being the headmistress and head of the Gryffindor house at Hogwarts. She can be said to be the queen of Hogwarts with the title of headmistress but what truly separates her from Petunia is that she plays more of a part in Harry's life as one who encourages him to do great things than to discourage him from being himself. She even consults with Dumbledore about what is best for Harry Potter. Minerva has only one moment of fragility and its where she says goodbye to Harry Potter when he was a baby.
Evidence:
C) Modern Young Female Role: Hermione Granger is a smart intelligent young witch who has two muggle parents that are dentists. However, she doesn't let her muggle backstory stop her from being one of the brightest minds Hogwarts has seen. Her wit has her constantly question Harry's actions similar to how Minerva questions Dumbledore. She tries very hard to keep Ron and Harry in line so they don't lose any more house points. However, she learns to nurture them by working with them so they do things the smart way and not then let's just do it kind of way. Though no matter how strong she acts, she is still a little girl who has feelings that Ron made the mistake of hurting them once.
Evidence:

- Gender Bender: Bends the gender roles
Ex: Dumbledore, Harry, Rubious Hagrid
A) Dumbledore manipulates situations for Harry.
Evidence:
B) Harry, has his mother's eyes. His mother's soul. He lets others take the lead sometimes.
Evidence:
C) Rubious Hagrid, nurturer and protector. Hagrid steps up and plays the mom role by looking after Harry like making sure he eats, has a birthday cake, sleeps in the warmth of his coat, that he has all he needs for Hogwarts, and checks in on him throughout the school year.
Evidence:

Psychology
{SS}
- Adaptability: The ability to adapt to one's environment
Ex: Harry's childhood, fame, houses
A) Life with the Dursleys Past and Present,
B) The Boy Who Lived,
C) Hogwarts houses, the waiting to get sorted is one of the most tension built scenes in the book because there are rumors about each of the houses and the sorting hat song. Hufflepuff is made fun of a lot, because their a bit out there while Slytherin is rumored to turn all wizards bad. However, for someone like Harry who knows nothing but only what he is told is scared of getting chosen or not getting chosen at all. So, all he knew was that he wanted to be with the Weasleys in Griffyndor and not be in Slytherin. The sorting hat takes this into consideration and puts it him Griffyndor because Harry was brave enough to say he did not want to be in Slytherin.
Evidence:

- Isolation: Isolated, cut off from the rest of the world
Ex: The cupboard, the muggle world, houses
A) Life with the Dursleys had isolated Harry from social interaction since he was a baby. Anything that they found unDursleyish had sent him to the cupboard forever how long they thought would teach him a lesson. Until they just started ignoring him fully as if he never existed, to begin with.
Evidence:
B) The Muggle World, Dumbledore tried to give Harry a normal life because he knew that Harry's fame had come too early for him. However, Harry's life child was anything but normal. Harry didn't have friends, a family, or anyone who truly took the time to understand him. He was alone and knew nothing about the wizarding world around him.
Evidence:
C) At Hogwarts, each young witch and wizard gets sorted into four houses that demonstrate each of their personalities. Slytherin has a bad reputation which always isolates those who are in its house because it is said that they will turn bad. Voldermort being one of them. Meanwhile, Hufflepuff is taken as a joke for a house. Harry himself was dreading the house sorting process because he still felt like this was too good to be true.
Evidence:

- Food: a valuable resource for energy
Ex: the amount of food one eats, greed and generosity
A) Harry eating at the Dursleys, little to no food. No Love. Dudley too much food. A lot of love.
Evidence:
B) Harry with Hagrid, sausage, and cake with other various snacks. Love.
Evidence:
C) Harry's snacks. Love and Friendship.
Evidence:
D) Harry's loss of appetite. Nervousness.
