Morana had been beautiful in her day, ..but she had gone by another
name then, & that was a long time ago. ....Now they call her Morana,
death's widow, & her visage has begun to decay, .just like her mortal
heart. ..She is a wraith, a banshee destined to lament on her tragedy
for eternity, ..incapable of love or companionship. ..It is said she died
selling her soul to the devil, ..to curse an unfaithful lover, ..but that is
only rumor & myth; the truth is much more tragic.

Once, ...she had known love so strong & faithful it was the subject of
songs & poems, ...shared with the world & envied by all. ...But death
does not care for such things. War separated her from her love, ..but
a promise was made to forever be true. So she waited. Years passed
but still she remained faithful, ....watching for the return of her lover.
Many in turn tried to court her, ..vying for her favor, ...but all of them
were denied her heart. ..Eventually a lord took her for his bride, even
though she claimed no love of him & refused him her affection. ....On
the eve of their matrimony she renewed her promise to her lost love:
her heart belonged only to him, & beat for him alone.

On that night she parted her heart from her body, .intending to keep
her promise even in the grave. ..She was buried on a hill overlooking
the sea, to forever stand watch for her lost lover. .Even now it is said
that she waits for him, .a phantom on the cliffs. .&, .those who come
upon her grave claim they can hear her heart, beating in the dirt.
