Turquoise and Nelby’s mostly obscured lineages have reigned the Worldedge Wetlands for generations, and as such two slight mutations have become prominent in the wildclaw populations of the marsh.
1. Slightly stronger feet webbing.
While wildclaws still aren’t the most graceful of swimmers, the improved webbing on their hind feet allow them to paddle with more efficiency.
2. Oily feathers.
Much like ducks, the feathers of marsh wildclaws are covered in a thin layer of oil to prevent them from being drenched with water in the wet environment.

Treeroot Terrors

After hours of dredging through the swamp, it seems you’ve stumbled across the Treeroot region of the Worldedge Wetlands. While a small settlement lives near the outskirts of the thicket, the wooded area is ruled by a pack of wildclaws, referred to as the “Treeroot Terrors” by the locals. Their territory sports a training field for battle, and a nesting grounds, the location of which being a closely guarded secret. |
| The two progenitors of the pack, Nelby and Turquoise, lead the group of their kin and other wildclaws. | They’ve made their den in a system of deep underground tunnels, secured by massive root systems. | The pack isn’t the most friendly to outsiders, and strangers found within their land are likely to be chased out. |
Prominent Pack Members
| Nelby is one of the two progenitors of the pack and sports the rank of deputy, although he isn’t sure what he’s supposed to do with the impressive status. He’s an immensely skilled hunter, but spends his days goofing off in the fen. The only dragon he ever listens to is Turquoise, the pack matriarch and dragon he’s married to. She has a unique way of calming down his chaos, at least a little bit. |

Turquoise is the pack matriarch and one of the progenitors of the pack, married to Nelby and a mother figure to all who know her. Her patience and kindness are unlike what passerbys expect when they meet a wildclaw, although the rowdiness or her packmates contrasts that greatly. She handles the responsibilities of the pack, as she doesn’t trust others to do it correctly.

| Pine was born from an orphaned egg left near pack territory, and the habitually pilfering wildclaws soon determined its species and took it for their own. When he had grown, Pine discovered his incredible prowess for nature magic; springing vines out of the ground and blooming flowers came as naturally as breathing to him. His sheer magical skill landed him the delta rank in the pack very easily. |
