Strangeness came across the Nerida when his small ship spotted what appeared to be a wavesweeper swimming alone the surface. A marine biologist and general lover of animals, he was very distressed to see the creature acting so out of character and followed. Trench, of course, led him directly to the Nerida, where his ship was quickly boarded. Liberty demanded to know how Strangeness and his crew of two had found the Nerida in the middle of the ocean, and after Strange stammered out that he had just been following the wavesweeper, Liberty laughed. He told the curious scientist that he was welcome on his ship, and despite his initial misgivings, Strangeness agreed to travel with them. One month turned into two, then three, then a year, then two, then three, and before anyone knew it, Strangeness was an irrevocable member of the crew of the Nerida. He used his skills with animals to help the ship locate schools of fish and avoid the habitats of endangered creatures. Strange has a bad habit of picking up strays every time they dock. Usually these strays are cats, which he takes excellent care of and lets climb all over his body. In return the cats keep the Nerida free of rats and other vermin. However, there was one time that Strange brought a stray back to the Nerida that wasn't a cat. It was a dragon, one the spiral had rescued quite literally from the jaws of death. Charm had killed another dragon in defense of his mother, and was to be put to death as per the laws of his clan. Luckily for him, Strange helped him escape from his cell and took the pretty coatl back to the Nerida. They were fast friends, then slowly something more. |
