The Drowned


The last thing Maris could remember was a cold, thick haze of darkness.
Then suddenly, there came light

Not like the engulfing rays of the brilliant sun, but something more subtle. It felt like that of a hearth's weak, smoldering embers. The sensation in her chest is barely noticeable, but it exists nonetheless. Slowly, it creeps its way through her foreclaws and along her spine until it finally, it reaches the tip of her tail. Her entire body aches, like it's ready to fall apart. Feeling a few scales fall away as she rubs her face, she realizes it already is.

Without volition, the Spiral began to snake her way through the marble ruins, barnacle-caked joints cracking as they wake from their slumber. Her mind feels as painfully sluggish as her movements. Shaking her head violently, Maris' tries to focus and remember, but it's like grasping for smoke.

• At some point, a bewitched pendant fell into the ocean, and got hooked on onto her corpse. It revitalized her and has halted her decay. Given that she'd been in saltwater, a lot of her flesh remains, but her bones can be seen on parts of her limbs. She has a hole from a trident wound in the back of her skull.

• Reeking of fish, seawater, and decay, she tends to stay outside. If you want to speak with her, go to the river.

• Not needing sleep, she serves as a night guard and patrols the rivers.
