Hermes has been blind since birth, and relies on a mix of innate magical abilities and familiar support. In the end, he is just as functional as any other dragon, and pulls his weight around the lair through thievery.
Unlike Veroya, Hermes' occasional partner in crime (and romance; enemies-to-friends-to-lovers, 400k, coming out, fluff, angst, love confessions), Hermes cannot rely on looks alone to keep him out of trouble.
He resists punishment by being an upstanding member of society! -again, if you look past the robbery, but there are worse things
